SOUTH BANGKA -- PT Timah supported the initiative of the South Bangka Police, which is intensifying its corn planting program, by donating 10 corn planting machines on Friday (September 19, 2025).
The corn planting machines from PT Timah will be distributed through local police chiefs (Kapolsek) to farmer groups (Gapoktan) across South Bangka.
Currently, the South Bangka Police have planted corn on 35 hectares of land, with plans to expand further as part of efforts to support food self-sufficiency, one of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita programs.
South Bangka Police Chief, AKBP Agus Arif Wijayanto, said that the corn planting machines would greatly assist farmers in the planting process.
“We thank PT Timah for providing these corn planting machines, which we will distribute to the community. Until now, corn planting has been done manually, so with these machines, the process of planting corn seeds in South Bangka will be much easier,” he said.
He added that the harvested corn would be distributed to Perum Bulog and partly to other companies.
“Usually, the corn harvest is supplied to Perum Bulog, as well as several local companies,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Human Resources at the South Bangka Police, AKP Perdana Wisaptriana, who also serves as Secretary of the South Bangka Police Food Security Program, mentioned that there are around eight farmer groups dedicated to corn spread across each subdistrict.
“These planting machines will be used jointly by the farmer groups under the coordination of the Kapolsek in South Bangka. This way, the distribution and utilization of the machines can be more equitable. We hope PT Timah’s support will not stop here, but also extend to other needs such as corn shelling machines, which are still limited,” he said.
Through the synergy between the South Bangka Police, farmer groups, and PT Timah, it is expected that South Bangka can become one of the corn production centers supporting national food self-sufficiency, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision. (*)
