BANGKA BELITUNG – To enhance the catch and livelihood of local fishermen, PT Timah has assisted the Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Nelayan Serimpang Alhidayah Darussalam Bakit, located in Dusun Srimpang, Bakit Village, Parit Tiga District, West Bangka Regency.
The aid was directly handed over by PT Timah's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Manager, Fahriza, along with Bangka Area Head Section Dikron, at the residence of the KUB Nelayan Serimpang Darussalam leader in Dusun Srimpang on Thursday (16/1/2025).
Askari Marzuki, the leader of KUB Nelayan Serimpang Darussalam, expressed his gratitude to PT Timah for supporting fishermen in utilizing local policies.
"Thank you to the CSR team, especially PT Timah, for supporting us, especially at the grassroots level, in utilizing local policies. God willing, we will maximize this assistance to benefit our group's business," he said.
Askari added that the aid from PT Timah would not only be used to purchase machinery but also for other equipment to support their operations, such as nets.
"As fishermen, we don't rely on just one source of income. Livelihoods are measured, and we will use this assistance to support other ventures, such as duck farming and other activities, especially when the weather is unfavorable for fishing," he explained.
He noted that PT Timah has consistently supported the community, not only in the fisheries sector but also in other areas. It is no surprise that PT Timah's presence has positively impacted the wider community.
"PT Timah has been extraordinary in the past and continues to think about the community's economy. We hope and pray that PT Timah continues to thrive, fostering strong bonds between the community and the company, and always supporting the prosperity of the people in Bangka Belitung," he concluded.
