KARIMUN -- As part of its commitment to supporting early childhood education in its operational areas, PT Timah has provided educational facilities and infrastructure assistance to Mutiara Hati Private Kindergarten, located in Sawang Laut Village, Kundur District, Karimun Regency.
This educational support from PT Timah aligns with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita, specifically point number four, which emphasizes the development of human resources and gender equality through improvements in education, healthcare, and access to technology.
In addition to infrastructure support, PT Timah also runs various programs to improve the quality of education, including scholarship programs and teacher competency development through training initiatives.
Suarni, the principal of Mutiara Hati Kindergarten, expressed her appreciation for PT Timah’s assistance, which has helped them acquire essential school facilities such as a printer and chairs.
“Our previous printer was broken, and it had become a problem since we relied on it for printing and photocopying learning materials and school administration documents. Thankfully, with PT Timah’s support, that issue has now been resolved,” she said.
She also noted that back in 2010, PT Timah had previously provided support to their school in the form of learning media for students.
Currently, more than 50 children are enrolled in the school. Due to limited government funding, they often struggle to provide adequate educational facilities.
“The government is currently tightening its budget, so it’s difficult for them to assist schools. We hope that support from private companies like this can help us in educating our children,” she added.
Looking ahead, she hopes that collaboration and synergy with PT Timah will continue, especially in supporting education for early childhood development.
