WEST BANGKA -- Supporting the education of children with disabilities, PT Timah Tbk assisted the Muntok State Special School (SLB). This assistance is to add learning facilities and infrastructure at SLB Muntok.
The assistance for SLB Muntok was handed over by the President Director of PT Timah Tbk, Achmad Ardianto together with the Board of Directors to the Principal of SLB Muntok, Arief Jananto some time ago at Wisma Majapahit, Muntok, West Bangka.
The Principal of the Muntok State SLB School, Arief Jananto, said that this was not the first time that Muntok SLB had received assistance from PT Timah Tbk. Previously, this member of the Indonesian Mining Holding, MIND ID, had also helped build the facilities and infrastructure of the Muntok SLB.
Arief said that in 2014, PT Timah Tbk helped build a prayer room. Meanwhile, in 2022 they will use the assistance to add other facilities and infrastructure.
"Assistance from PT Timah we plan to add school facilities to procure shelves for learning media. Meanwhile, this is not yet organized enough," he said.
According to him, this shelf is necessary because it makes it easier for teachers to get learning media that will be used to teach students.
"So we hope that later there will be a special room that can be used to store learning media so that when teachers use it they can access it more easily," he said.
Arief added that currently 84 students are studying at SLBN Muntok at the SDLB, SMPLB, SMALB, and one-roof schools levels.
"There are five types of disabilities that the Muntok SLBN handles, there are Blind, Deaf, Mentally Disabled, Physically Disabled, and Autistic and some have multiple disabilities," he said.
Various activities are carried out at schools to develop the skills of children with special needs such as batik, housekeeping, sewing, welding, handicrafts, and different other skills.
Arief appreciated PT Timah's concern for these children with special needs. In the future, he hopes that PT Timah Tbk will continue to support the Muntok SLBN.
"Thank you for PT Timah Tbk's concern for the Muntok SLBN. Hopefully, in the future it will continue to grow and progress so that it can support the Muntok SLBN," he said.
