PANGKALPINANG — To support social and religious activities in its operational areas, PT TIMAH Tbk once again extended assistance to a place of worship. This time, the company provided support to Musala (Prayer Hall) Al Barokah.
The assistance was directly handed over by the CSR Team of PT TIMAH Tbk and the South Bangka Area Unit at Musala Al Barokah, located in the Tanjung Bunga area, Bukit Intan District, Pangkalpinang City, on Monday (October 20, 2025).
The Head of the Al Barokah Prayer Hall Construction Committee, Hermanto, shared that the musala had been under construction since 2022, with support from PT TIMAH Tbk’s business partners. Initially, he said, they built a small and simple wooden prayer hall.
However, as more people began using the musala, it could no longer accommodate all the worshippers. The musala is frequented by local residents, fishermen, and tin mining workers, as its location is close to the fishermen’s docking area.
He explained that the musala is often used by the community because the nearest mosque is quite far away. Therefore, residents usually perform their prayers at this musala.
“At first, we built a very simple wooden musala over there, but as time went on, the number of worshippers kept increasing. We had to take turns praying. Eventually, we expanded the musala and rebuilt it here. We also received help from PT TIMAH Tbk’s partners since not only locals use it but also fishermen and mining workers,” he said.
According to Hermanto, the construction had been temporarily halted due to financial constraints. Thus, the community was very grateful for PT TIMAH Tbk’s assistance, which enabled them to continue building the musala.
“The assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk will be used to complete construction works such as installing the ceiling, adding a canopy to the front area, paving with concrete blocks, and installing glass panels on the upper section,” said Yanto.
He expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk’s support in helping with the musala’s development. Going forward, he hopes the company will continue to contribute to social and religious activities within the community.
