PANGKALPINANG – Supporting Community Food Security, PT Timah Distributes Thousands of Staple Food Packages in Its Operational Areas
To support food security during Ramadan and the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations, PT Timah has launched a social assistance program, distributing thousands of staple food packages to communities in its operational areas.
During Ramadan 2025, PT Timah distributed approximately 6,375 staple food packages to residents in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Islands Province, and Riau Province.
These thousands of packages were delivered to beneficiaries throughout the holy month as part of PT Timah’s Safari Ramadan activities across all company operational areas.
To ensure that the food aid from MIND ID’s Mining Industry Holding reaches those in need, PT Timah collaborated with local governments, community groups, and students, including the Rohis (Islamic Religious Student Association) of SMA Negeri Simpang Teritip.
The distribution targeted various community groups, including the elderly, orphans, and low-income families. This initiative aims to ease the burden of essential needs during Ramadan, allowing recipients to observe their religious practices with peace and devotion.
Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, emphasized that this program is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, which are regularly conducted, especially during significant moments like Ramadan.
"We hope that these staple food packages provide real benefits to those in need. May this assistance help ease their burden and bring happiness to the recipients while also strengthening food security for their families," said Anggi.
One of the beneficiaries, Zumaidah (60), a resident of Senang Hati, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, expressed her gratitude for the unexpected support from PT Timah.
"Alhamdulillah, today I received a blessing from PT Timah. Honestly, I never expected this help. Thank you so much, PT Timah—may this assistance bring blessings, and may you continue to share with others," said Zumaidah.
Similarly, Sitiyana (54), a resident of Sungai Baru Village, West Bangka Regency, said that PT Timah’s assistance greatly helps her family’s food needs.
"This food aid from PT Timah is a big help to our family’s economy, especially as we approach Eid, making it much easier to meet daily needs," she said.
Suherlin, the Head of Sungai Baru Village, acknowledged PT Timah’s continuous support for the community, especially ahead of Eid.
"Almost every year, PT Timah provides aid—not just food packages but also support for orphans, healthcare assistance, and much more. May PT Timah continue to thrive," he said.
Through this program, PT Timah aims to consistently contribute to improving the welfare of communities in the mining areas. (*)
