Support for Improving Education Quality, PT Timah Tbk Socializes the Gernas Tastaka Program in Belitung Timur

BELITUNG TIMUR – PT Timah Tbk remains committed to supporting the improvement of education quality in mining communities. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Division, in collaboration with the Yayasan Pengerak Indonesia Cerdas and the Belitung Timur Education Office, the company held a socialization event for the Gerakan Nasional Pemberantasan Buta Matematika (Gernas Tastaka) program in Belitung Timur Regency (22/11/2024).

This online event aimed to introduce and support the implementation of the Gernas Tastaka program to improve the quality of mathematics teaching at the elementary school level.

The socialization event was attended by PT Timah Tbk CSR Division Head Rahmat Taufik, Acting Head of the Belitung Timur Education Office Dedi Wahyudi, S.Kom, Chairman of the Indonesia Cerdas Foundation Ahmad Rizali, and 40 participants consisting of mathematics teachers for grades 1-3 in Belitung Timur Regency.

Acting Head of the Belitung Timur Education Office, Dedi Wahyudi, appreciated PT Timah's initiative in launching this program.

"We greatly appreciate PT Timah's efforts to support the development of education in Belitung Timur. The Gernas Tastaka program is crucial for creating a generation of excellent students, particularly in mathematics," said Dedi.

According to him, this subject not only enhances logical abilities but also plays a role in developing the motor skills of students.

Dedi added that PT Timah Tbk not only supports the development of education in Belitung Timur but also supports the government's priority program, namely the Free Nutritious Food Program.

"One of the concrete steps taken by PT Timah to improve children's health and intelligence is the implementation of the Free Nutritious Food Program simulation, which will begin in the coming days in several regions in Belitung," he added.

Chairman of the Indonesia Cerdas Foundation Ahmad Rizali, in his remarks, expressed hope that Belitung Timur could become one of the regencies with students who excel in various fields.

"To improve the quality of education and the competencies of our students, a collaborative and focused effort is needed," said Ahmad Rizali.

He hopes that the participants who have undergone the training will be able to apply their knowledge and skills to support the development of education in their respective regions.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that this activity is part of PT Timah Tbk's commitment to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.

"PT Timah Tbk is committed to supporting the advancement of education in Indonesia, particularly in mining communities. The Gernas Tastaka program is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to improving education quality, especially in mathematics," he said.

Through this socialization, it is expected that teachers will gain new skills in teaching mathematics, which will have a direct impact on the students in Belitung Timur Regency.

"Through this training, we want to ensure that teachers in Belitung Timur can not only teach but also inspire and motivate students to enjoy mathematics. We hope this can improve mathematical literacy in Indonesia," he concluded.

After the Gernas Tastaka Program socialization, 80 teachers in Belitung Timur will participate in the Gernas Tastaka training scheduled for November 28-30, 2024, in Belitung Timur.

This program is expected to help teachers teach mathematics in a more engaging and easily understood way by students.
