PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of the local economy continues to be realized through its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) empowerment programs.
Throughout 2025, PT Timah Tbk has facilitated various training programs for 142 fostered MSME partners across the company’s operational areas as part of the implementation of Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER).
These training programs are designed to enhance MSME capacity, ranging from strengthening business management, digital marketing, financial management, to creative product development, so that MSMEs not only survive but also grow sustainably.
A wide range of training materials were delivered to MSME participants, such as digital marketing strategies to expand market reach, financial management and preparation of simple financial reports, capital management, creative business idea development, as well as improving product quality and packaging.
Some of the training programs conducted include Digital Marketing for Increasing Sales Productivity for MSMEs, MSMEs Progress Together with Naksir UMKM: Leveling Up and Profiling, Cuan Emas Training, and Growing Businesses: Smart Strategies for Managing MSME Capital, which equip business actors with an understanding of intelligent and sustainable capital management.
In the field of financial management, PT Timah Tbk also organized Financial Management and Simple Financial Reporting Training aimed at improving MSME financial literacy so they are able to prepare simple yet accurate financial reports, along with various other training programs.
In implementing MSME training programs, PT TIMAH Tbk collaborates with various parties such as local governments, stakeholders, and academics as speakers, among others.
Department Head of Corporate Communication of PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that this MSME training program is part of the company’s commitment to creating independent, resilient, and competitive MSMEs so they can build community economic self-reliance.
“The company hopes that MSMEs will not only survive, but also be able to move up a level and become independent. With increased competence, MSMEs are expected to access wider markets, increase product added value, and make real contributions to driving the local economy,” she said.
Not only focusing on business aspects, these training programs also encourage MSME actors to build business networks, expand collaborations, and utilize digital technology as a key support for business growth in the modern era.
The training participants also responded positively to the program, as it is considered to provide direct benefits for their business development, both in terms of increased knowledge, skills, and confidence in managing their businesses.
As conveyed by Serli Heryani, owner of the Mama Naya Bolen brand, the training not only expanded her network but also provided valuable insights that she could implement.
“I am very grateful to be able to join this training and to be facilitated by PT TIMAH free of charge. We gain knowledge here; usually, if we learn on our own, we have to pay. There is a lot of useful knowledge, and there are several things that I just realized about financial management, such as the need to start separating business finances from personal finances, and this can be done in a simple way,” she said.
One of the speakers in PT TIMAH Tbk’s training activities, Dr. Nizwan Zukhri, S.E., M.M, said that one of the challenges often faced by MSMEs in developing their businesses is financial management. According to him, many MSMEs are still unable to separate personal finances from business finances.
“Training like this is very important for MSME actors, because the problems faced by MSMEs or home industries, aside from lack of capital, include the inability to manage or handle financial management properly. Business money is still mixed with personal money, so they cannot know when they will make a profit or a loss, or when they will break even,” he said. (*)
