Strengthening Family Development, PT TIMAH and BKKBN Riau Islands Provide Support Services for Parents and Children

KARIMUN -- Improving the quality of human resources can begin within the family through proper parenting and early childhood support. To advance this goal, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has collaborated with the Riau Islands Provincial Representative Office of the Ministry of Population and Family Development/National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) to provide referral services for parents and children at Darul Mukmin Childcare Center in Karimun Regency.

These referral services are part of Batch II of the ministry's priority program, Taman Asuh Sayang Anak (TAMASYA), or Loving Childcare Program. The initiative aims to improve parents' understanding of appropriate parenting practices while supporting the early identification of potential developmental disorders in children.

Through this initiative, eight pairs of parents and their eight children received counseling and support services. The services involved qualified professionals and competent partners, including pediatricians, child psychologists, and other supporting personnel.

Sri Parwanti, a Junior Expert in Family Planning and Family Development at the BKKBN Riau Islands Provincial Office, explained that referral services are one of four types of support provided under the TAMASYA priority program.

According to Sri, these services aim to identify potential developmental disorders in children at an early stage, such as speech delays and autism, so that children can receive appropriate interventions based on their individual needs.

"The support services involve qualified professionals, including psychologists, to ensure that the findings from the initial assessments can be followed up with appropriate and targeted interventions. This also helps parents gain a better understanding of their children's developmental conditions and needs," she said.

She explained that Batch II is a continuation of the previous program, which received positive feedback from beneficiaries. During Batch I, the services reached five children, while Batch II provided support to eight children and their parents.

Sri Parwanti expressed her appreciation for PT TIMAH's collaboration in supporting the implementation of the TAMASYA program. According to her, partnerships between the government and the business sector are essential to expanding the program's reach and delivering tangible benefits to communities.

She hopes that PT TIMAH's support through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program will extend beyond a one-time initiative and develop into a sustainable program that provides broader benefits.

"Strengthening parents' understanding of parenting practices and child development is an important investment in the nation's future. Families equipped with sound parenting knowledge will serve as the foundation for raising a healthy, resilient, and capable generation," she said.

This collaboration also aligns with the company's commitment to fulfilling its social and environmental responsibilities while improving the quality of life of communities surrounding its operational areas.

In addition to providing direct benefits to participating families, PT TIMAH's involvement in the TAMASYA program also demonstrates the synergy between the business sector and the government in supporting family development.

Through its support for the TAMASYA program, PT TIMAH hopes to contribute to improving human resource quality, beginning at the family level. Appropriate parenting practices from early childhood are a fundamental part of preparing a capable, independent, and highly skilled future generation that can contribute to regional and national development.
