WEST BANGKA — PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues its commitment to improving disaster literacy by providing fire hazard education for students of Stannia Kindergarten, along with teachers and parents.
Through its Fire Fighting Team, the company delivered interactive learning sessions held at the football field of the Division Processing and Refinery in Mentok, West Bangka, on Monday morning (April 20, 2026).
This activity is part of efforts to instill awareness of fire risk mitigation from an early age.
During the session, participants were introduced to potential fire hazards, fire prevention methods, and simple simulations of firefighting techniques. The approach was designed to be educational and fun so that it would be easy for children to understand.
One of the students, Athaya (5), expressed enthusiasm about the activity. She was happy to learn while playing with the firefighting team.
“It was fun—learning how to put out fires, riding the fire truck, and playing with water with friends,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nadila (5) said she now feels braver after participating in the simulation. “Now I’m not afraid of fire anymore after being taught earlier,” she said.
The Head of Stannia Kindergarten, Suparningsih, appreciated the disaster education activity, saying it was highly beneficial for students, teachers, and parents.
“This activity is very supportive, as it is the children’s first time learning about fire hazards and how to handle them. Parents were also very enthusiastic in participating,” she said.
She also expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration in supporting educational activities at the school. “We are grateful for the support provided. We hope this collaboration will continue in the future,” she added.
A parent, Solihati, shared a similar view, noting that this kind of education is important for building awareness from an early age.
“Children become more aware of fire hazards, do not panic during a fire, and gain basic knowledge for initial response,” she said. (*)
