PANGKALPINANG -- In response to an increasingly complex and dynamic digital era, PT Timah continues to enhance employee capacity and understanding of current issues, including the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital security.
To support this effort, PT Timah, through the Public Relations Capital Division in collaboration with the Information & Communication Technology Division, held a webinar titled TINS Series – Corporate Services: "AI, Security & Reputation in the Social Media Era," conducted virtually on Tuesday (May 6, 2025).
This webinar aimed to provide comprehensive insights into potential digital security risks, the development of AI technology in the workplace, and the importance of maintaining both corporate and personal image and reputation in the digital space.
Attended by hundreds of PT Timah employees, the webinar featured Dr. Toto Alfin Atmojo, S.Kom, M.Si, MBA, CISSP, CISA, as the speaker. He delivered various topics on the use of AI and the challenges of digital security.
Toto emphasized that today, everyone must care about digital security because everything is now connected in the digital world. He explained that understanding should begin with awareness, appreciation, and commitment.
He stated that AI must be viewed from two sides—both as an opportunity and a threat—if not used wisely. It is undeniable that AI has become an integral part of daily life.
"AI is transforming industries such as healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, leading to increased productivity and innovation," he said.
He expressed hope that the webinar would improve PT Timah employees' understanding of AI utilization and help foster awareness and implementation of digital security.
Meanwhile, PT Timah’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that social media today is not only a communication tool but also plays a major role in shaping public perception of both individuals and institutions.
"The company hopes employees will better understand the importance of data security, privacy, and digital communication in their daily work, as well as recognize the impact of digital activity on both personal and corporate reputation," said Anggi.
He added that this webinar is part of the company’s internal program to continuously develop human resource competencies in the digital transformation era. In addition to webinars, the company also regularly conducts training and education related to technology, leadership, and other soft skills.
