Spry, PT Timah Tbk Firefighters Help Residents Put Out the Fire at the Gambir Factory

SAWANG -- PT Timah Tbk in the Kundur Production Unit deployed a firefighting team to help deal with the fire that occurred at the gambir factory in Mengkuse Hamlet, South Sawang Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, Saturday (6/5/2023) evening.

This great fire was finally extinguished quickly after PT Timah Tbk's fire team and the community worked hard to put out the fire.

The owner of the gambier cooking business, Li Huk Tie or often called Pak Nang, said the fire occurred due to an electrical short circuit and spread quickly to piles of dry wood and gambier leaf cooking processing equipment.

"Thank you PT Timah Tbk for being swift and responsive in helping the community put out the fire so that the fire did not spread to other areas around the incident," said Pak Nang.

Meanwhile, the Head of Kundur Village Marhalim appreciated PT Timah Tbk's assistance, which again deployed its firefighter team to help put out the fires that occurred in his area.

"I represent the community and also Pak Nang, who is currently experiencing a fire accident. I would like to thank PT Timah Tbk for their assistance so that the fire can be extinguished quickly," he said.

Previously, PT Timah Tbk, together with stakeholders in Kundur District, had also signed a declaration on handling and preventing fires in the dry season.

"Thank you to PT Timah for helping extinguish the fire at the Gambia Processing business site. If you only rely on simple equipment such as buckets and others, I don't think you will be able to put out the fire which is getting bigger due to lots of flammable materials," said the Head of West Kundur Sub-District Khaidir.

Appreciation for PT Timah Tbk's swiftness in helping extinguish the fire also came from netizens on Facebook. On this occasion, PT Timah Tbk also appealed to be careful and not burn trash and clear land indiscriminately, especially during the dry season. (*)
