PANGKALPINANG -- Commission VI of the Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Republik Indonesia (DPR RI) conducted a specific visit to PT TIMAH Tbk to discuss the company’s operational performance and mine revitalization programs in Pangkalpinang on Thursday (February 12, 2026).
The visit, led by Deputy Chair of Commission VI DPR RI Nurdin Halid, was welcomed by President Director of PT TIMAH Tbk Restu Widiyantoro, Director of Production and Commercial Ilhamsyah Mahendra, and Director of Operations Handy Geniardi.
Members of Commission VI visited PT TIMAH Tbk’s onshore mining sites in the Tanjung Gunung area and Central Bangka Regency, held discussions, and provided several recommendations related to the company’s operations. The delegation also visited the company’s head office.

Nurdin Halid stated that the specific visit was a follow-up to a previous hearing meeting with PT TIMAH Tbk.
“We want to see the progress of PT TIMAH Tbk’s performance and condition, because the company’s revitalization is not only about technical corporate strategy but also about professional responsibility related to the management of natural resources, and we are now seeing extraordinary progress,” he said.
He noted that last year PT TIMAH Tbk controlled only 20 percent of its Mining Business Permit (IUP) areas in mining management, but that figure has now increased to 50 percent.
“The company has implemented our recommendations very well. We give our highest appreciation,” he added.
During the visit, Commission VI recommended that PT TIMAH Tbk carry out mining operations independently while involving surrounding communities as beneficiaries of the company’s presence in the region.
Secondly, illegal miners should be legalized through cooperative structures.
“In this way, illegal miners, who are local residents living around PT TIMAH Tbk’s IUP areas, can benefit and improve their welfare through the company’s presence,” he said.
The commission also encouraged PT TIMAH Tbk to conduct further exploration to increase tin resources and reserves.
“We are encouraging PT TIMAH Tbk to adopt modern mining practices. Through modernization, the company can create greater added value and continue to grow,” he explained.
President Director Restu Widiyantoro stated that PT TIMAH Tbk carries the tagline “Tin for the People,” which emphasizes community involvement in the company’s business processes through cooperative schemes, including Red and White Cooperatives, fishermen cooperatives, and mining cooperatives.
“PT TIMAH Tbk has the tagline ‘Tin for the People.’ The company involves communities in its business processes through cooperative schemes to collaborate with PT TIMAH Tbk,” he said.
Meanwhile, Director of Production and Commercial Ilhamsyah Mahendra said that PT TIMAH Tbk welcomed the visit from Commission VI DPR RI and would follow up on the various inputs provided.
“Several issues were highlighted, including operational safety, post-mining responsibilities, and community involvement in the mining system, because tin mining is closely connected with local communities,” he said.
In addition, Commission VI also paid special attention to the development of rare earth elements (REE), in line with the President’s directive. PT TIMAH Tbk will coordinate with Perminas, the Mineral Industry Agency (BIM), and Danantara regarding REE development. (*)
