WEST BANGKA – As part of the 2025 Sobat Aksi Ramadan initiative, PT Timah, in collaboration with the Ministry of SOEs, shared happiness and joy with orphans in Mayang Village, Simpang Teritip District, West Bangka Regency, through drawing and reading activities.
The storytelling session, held at Al Mukhbitin Prayer House on Friday (March 14, 2025), was met with excitement by the children. Although they were initially shy, they soon warmed up, especially when the Tins Agents rewarded those who confidently answered questions.
This children’s activity was part of the Sobat Aksi Ramadan BUMN 2025 program initiated by the Ministry of SOEs in collaboration with PT Timah. It served as an educational and engaging way for the children to spend time while waiting to break their fast.
The Sobat Aksi Ramadan BUMN 2025 program aims to spread happiness, foster care, and strengthen the bond between SOEs and communities across the Bangka Belitung Province.
Before the storytelling session, the children were invited to color illustrated books featuring a variety of shapes, including animals, airplanes, and flowers.
Bright smiles lit up the children's faces as they eagerly participated in the coloring activity. Adding to the excitement, Tins Agents set a time limit and awarded prizes for the best work.
Tania, a fourth-grade student from SD Mayang, initially felt nervous when she received her coloring book and crayons, but she soon enjoyed meeting new friends.
"I felt nervous and shy when I first entered the prayer house since it was my first time joining an event like this. But it turned out to be really fun, and I got to meet new friends," she said.
Her excitement grew when she received a coloring book featuring a cat, her favorite animal.
"I was happy to get a cat coloring book because I love cats. I was excited to color it, but I didn't win since I couldn't finish in time. Thank you, PT Timah, for the coloring book and crayons—I can take them home!" she added.
Similarly, Riski Aditya, a third-grade student from SD Mayang, enjoyed the event at Al Mukhbitin Prayer House, especially since he made new friends. He was thrilled to receive a water bottle as a prize for completing his drawing.
"I'm so happy I got a prize! I finished coloring my picture and won a gift. Plus, I can take home the book and crayons. Thank you, PT Timah! Waiting for Iftar today was fun and lively," said Riski.
Juhari, the head of Al Mukhbitin Prayer House, expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s initiative as it was the first time such a reading and coloring activity had been organized for the children. He saw it as a great way to encourage kids to love their prayer house.
"PT Timah's presence in Mayang Village has brought many benefits to the residents, from helping the sick to supporting mosque construction. Today, they brought joy to the children with this meaningful activity while waiting for Iftar," he said.
He was also grateful that Al Mukhbitin Prayer House was chosen as the venue for the Sobat Aksi Ramadan BUMN 2025 program. The event brought happiness to the children and made their Ramadan fasting experience more enjoyable.
"Thanks to this event, the prayer house was filled with children today. They were enthusiastic and engaged, making the musala not just a place of worship but also a space for learning and play. Thank you, PT Timah, for helping to enliven our prayer house," he concluded. (*)
