SMI Timah Cup 2026 Held in West Bangka, PT TIMAH Supports the Achievement of Pencak Silat Athletes

BANGKA BARAT – PT TIMAH once again demonstrated its commitment to sports development and youth empowerment by supporting the 2026 SMI Timah Cup Regional Pencak Silat Championship held in West Bangka Regency.

The championship, organized by the Satria Muda Indonesia Pencak Silat School (SMI) of West Bangka, took place from May 14–16, 2026, at the Majapahit Hall of PT TIMAH in Mentok. A total of 187 pencak silat athletes from various regencies and cities across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province participated in the event.

PT TIMAH not only provided the competition venue but also fully supported the implementation of the championship, which was officially opened by the Vice Regent of West Bangka, H. Yus Derahman, on Thursday evening (14/5/2026).

Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Arif Dermawan, stated that PT TIMAH made a major contribution to the successful organization of the pencak silat championship.

“PT TIMAH’s role has been tremendous. In addition to providing the competition venue, the company also became the biggest sponsor of this championship. The Satria Muda School also has a close historical connection with PT TIMAH, as the school first entered Bangka Belitung through PT TIMAH,” he said.

He expressed hope that PT TIMAH would continue supporting various sports activities, especially pencak silat in West Bangka.

“We hope PT TIMAH will continue to support all of our activities. May PT TIMAH continue to grow and prosper. Thank you, PT TIMAH,” he added.

Meanwhile, Vice Regent of West Bangka H. Yus Derahman appreciated the implementation of the 2026 SMI Timah Cup Regional Pencak Silat Championship and PT TIMAH’s support for the advancement of regional sports.

“Thank you to the organizing committee and PT TIMAH for holding this extraordinary competition. West Bangka has been entrusted to host the 2026 SMI Timah Cup Regional Pencak Silat Championship. To all athletes, compete fairly and show your best achievements,” he said.

One of the participating athletes, Ardila Erliati (27), who competed in the adult Class A category, admitted she was motivated to become a champion in order to advance to the national level. According to her, PT TIMAH’s support has greatly helped the development of pencak silat athletes in the region.

“PT TIMAH often provides support, from supplying buildings to daily training facilities. The company even once assisted with transportation when we participated in a silat championship in Padang, West Sumatra. PT TIMAH is the best,” said the silver medalist of the 2018 Provincial Sports Week.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Andi (10), an early-age category athlete who aims to win first place in the championship.

“My target is to become champion so I can compete in the National Championship,” said the Muhammadiyah Elementary School student enthusiastically. (*)
