PANGKALPINANG – In the spirit of Ramadan, PT Timah has assisted in two places of worship on Kundur Island, Riau Islands Province. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting religious activities in the community.
Through its corporate social responsibility program, PT Timah distributed aid to Nurul Ikhwan Mosque in Kundur Village and Assafiyah Prayer House in Sawang Laut Village.
PT Timah frequently extends support to places of worship within its operational areas to enhance the comfort of community members in practicing their faith.
The Head of Sawang Laut Village, Jefrizal, stated that this is not the first time their prayer house has received assistance from PT Timah. Previously, the company had provided facilities and infrastructure support for their prayer house.
This time, PT Timah’s assistance will be used to build a fence around the prayer house, ensuring greater safety and comfort for worshippers.
"Alhamdulillah, we have once again received support from PT Timah. Previously, we had also received assistance. This time, the aid will be used to build a fence around the prayer house, making it safer and more comfortable," he said.
He explained that the prayer house is located near a main road, which poses a danger to children if left unfenced. Thus, they took the initiative to build a protective barrier.
"Since the prayer house is situated on a roadside, we often worry about children playing too close to traffic. PT Timah had previously helped with the fencing project, but it was not completed, so we are grateful for this additional support," he added.
He also appreciated PT Timah’s continuous efforts in assisting the people of Sawang Laut Village in various sectors, including health, education, and social welfare.
"PT Timah has built a strong relationship with our community, providing various forms of assistance, which reflects the company’s concern for the residents," he said.
Similarly, the administrator of Nurul Ikhwan Mosque in Kundur Village, Zuriyanto, stated that PT Timah’s assistance will be used to construct a dedicated ablution area for the mosque.
Currently, worshippers at Nurul Ikhwan Mosque have been using the ablution facilities at the nearby Quranic Education Center (TPQ).
"Thank you to PT Timah for this support. This assistance will be used to build an ablution facility, so worshippers will no longer have to rely on the TPQ for wudu," he expressed. (*)
