Semprong Tinafam Expands Nationally, PT Timah's Foster Partner Breaks Into Wider Market

BANGKA TENGAH -- Starting her semprong (traditional rolled wafer snack) business in 2013, Mastina Mayasari’s journey has reached new heights. Under the brand TINAFAM, Tina, a foster partner of PT Timah, has successfully brought her dry snack products into the national market.

Hailing from Belilik Village, Namang Subdistrict, Central Bangka Regency, Tina not only runs a thriving semprong business but also helps preserve the culinary heritage of Bangka Belitung.

The Bangka-style semprong has a distinctive taste compared to similar snacks from other regions. Its savory flavor and crispy texture make it a favorite among various groups of people.

“I make semprong using a family recipe that’s been passed down for generations, keeping the flavor authentic. It’s an old-school snack, but it still has a strong fanbase across all age groups,” Tina shared recently.

Always innovating, Tina now also produces gluten-free semprong made with alternative flours such as cassava (mocaf), taro, and sweet potato—responding to consumer demand for healthier options. These new variations have gained popularity and even have regular customers.

In addition to semprong, she also makes other traditional Bangka snacks like kue satu, semprit, pineapple roll cookies (kue papan nanas), kue soda, dodol, fried peanuts, old-style sponge cakes (baulu jadul), kangkung chips, cassava chips, and more. To add variety, her semprong is now available in triangle shapes besides the classic rolls.

Tinafam products have made it into modern retail stores in Central Bangka and are available in souvenir shops in Bangka and Yogyakarta, as well as at TINS Gallery.

“My products gained more recognition after being displayed at TINS Gallery when I became a foster partner. That opened the door for more customers and orders,” she said.

Thanks to PT Timah's support, Tina has participated in both local and national exhibitions, which have helped her promote her products more widely.

“Alhamdulillah, with PT Timah’s support, my business has grown significantly, and the income is quite good. During holidays, we produce nearly a ton of products and hire additional workers,” she added.

Tinafam’s products are affordably priced, ranging from Rp15,000 to Rp140,000. For those who want to experience Bangka’s traditional flavors, you can contact her via social media at @TinaSuryadi.

Semprong is a perfect snack for any occasion—especially when paired with a warm cup of coffee. (*)
