BANGKA -- Cross-border students who are members of The 2nd Unmuh Babel International Summer Course (ISC) 2024 visited the Alobi Kampoeng Animal Rescue Center (PPS) at PT Timah's Air Jangkang Reclamation on Wednesday (15/8/2024).
This visit to PPS Alobi in PT Timah's Kampoeng Reclamation Air Jangkang is part of a series of field studies of activities with the theme 'Innovative AI Solutions for Sustainable Tourism and Conservation'.
Kampoeng Reclamation for Air Jangkang is a former mining area that PT Timah has transformed into an integrated area between agrotourism, ecotourism, and biodiversity.
PPS ALOBI Manager, Endy Yusuf said that students from various countries looked enthusiastic when they visited PPS Alobi. On this occasion, they also listened to explanations and saw directly the animals being rehabilitated.
"They carried out a field study at PPS Alobi AirANGKAng, we explained about the animal rehabilitation efforts carried out by Alobi and PT Timah to protect protected wild animals," said Endi.
Furthermore, Endi explained the role of PT Timah in collaborating with PPS Alobi to protect and rehabilitate animals where these animals are not only from Bangka but also from various other areas.
"We also conveyed about other forms of reclamation carried out by PT Timah as a mining company," said Endy.
Furthermore, Endy explained that his party also explained the increasing number of conflicts between humans and crocodiles due to illegal mining in Bangka Belitung which caused disruption of crocodile habitats.
According to Endy, visits like this are a form of education to protect protected wild animals. (*)
