PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has once again revitalized Taman Timah Bukit Baru in the Bukit Baru area, Timah Complex, Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, on Sunday (August 16, 2026).
The revitalization was inaugurated in celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, beginning with a group exercise session, the distribution of prizes, and breakfast for visitors to Taman Timah Bukit Baru, which is managed by PT TIMAH. The event was also attended by the Chairwoman of the Timah Employees’ Wives Association (IIKT), Ayu, along with IIKT members; PT TIMAH’s Division Head of General Affairs, Wijaya; Timah employees; and members of the public.
The improvements were carried out to provide a greener, more comfortable, and family-friendly open space while also serving as a venue for sports, recreation, and education for the community.
The revitalization of Taman Timah Bukit Baru has been carried out in stages. After the first phase was inaugurated in February 2026, the company continued to improve the area and add several facilities that can be enjoyed by the public.
PT TIMAH’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said the latest revitalization includes various facilities, ranging from a jogging track, a grape garden, toilets and a prayer room, to improvements to the children’s playground and the reopening of the water attraction for visitors.
“In February, we inaugurated the first phase. As time has gone by, we have continued to make improvements and add facilities. This morning, we once again completed Taman Timah Bukit Baru with several additional facilities,” she said.
At the second jogging track area, visitors can now enjoy a fish pond located near the prayer room, an exercise area, a rabbit enclosure, and a deer enclosure. The company has also reopened the water attraction, which features boats and duck-shaped rides, as well as a bird aviary and a grape garden.
In addition, the water tower, which is part of the cultural heritage site, has also been opened to visitors. The public can enjoy views of the park from above while making use of the seating area provided.
The addition of these various facilities is expected to further expand the park’s function as an area that not only provides green space but also serves as a venue for sports, family recreation, and environmental education.
One visitor, Jundi, a resident of Pangkalbalam, expressed his appreciation for the improvements at Taman Timah Bukit Baru. He said that the increasingly complete facilities make the park an attractive choice for families, particularly on weekends.
“Children can play here. It gets busy on weekends. Here, children can also learn about nature. So, it is not just a place to play, but also offers sports, recreation, and education,” he said.
Similarly, Leo, a resident of Gandaria, said that he frequently visits Taman Timah Bukit Baru to exercise.
“The atmosphere here is shady, green, and comfortable for exercising. There are also fairly complete sports facilities and a children’s playground, so it is very suitable for families. Most importantly, everything is free,” he said.
Taman Timah Bukit Baru has indeed become one of the public spaces that is quite popular among local residents. The playground alone is estimated to attract around 300 to 400 visitors per day, with the number increasing on holidays.
In addition to recreational facilities, sports activities are also regularly held in the area. Every Sunday, residents can participate in group exercise sessions, which are part of efforts to enliven the public space while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The revitalization of Taman Timah Bukit Baru is part of the company’s efforts to provide a healthy, comfortable, green, and attractive open space for the community.
Taman Timah Bukit Baru is also expected to become an interactive space that benefits people of all age groups. Children can make use of the playground and educational facilities, while adults can exercise or relax with their families.
The increasingly complete facilities also strengthen the function of the green open space as a healthy and inclusive gathering place for the community.
In addition to Pangkalpinang, PT TIMAH also provides public facilities in other operational areas, including Kundur. Various activities with local communities also continue to be held to optimize the use of these public spaces. (*)
