Residents of Bukit Layang Village Flock to PT TIMAH Tbk’s Mobile Health Service for Free and Accessible Medical Care

BANGKA -- Hundreds of residents from Pangkal Layang Hamlet, Bukit Layang Village, Bakam District, Bangka Regency enthusiastically visited the free medical services provided by PT TIMAH Tbk’s Mobile Health Unit, which arrived in their village on Wednesday morning (December 10, 2025).

PT TIMAH Tbk’s Mobile Health Unit was stationed at the Pangkal Layang Hamlet Hall to provide free health services to the community. This marks the second time the Mobile Health Unit has visited Bukit Layang Village.

PT TIMAH Tbk also collaborated with students from Institut Citra Internasional (ICI) who are currently conducting community service (KKN) in Bukit Layang Village, serving a total of 129 residents who came for health checkups.

Bukit Layang Village Head, Surono, said that residents were eager to receive the health services. He explained that the services were held in Pangkal Layang Hamlet because many elderly people live in the area.

He added that although the village has a community health post (Puskedes), residents must travel to the Bakam Health Center—about 18 kilometers away—to receive more comprehensive medical services.

“Our residents were very enthusiastic about getting medical care. Many came early in the morning, especially the elderly, because they can access health services more easily here. Residents from other hamlets also came because awareness about health checkups is quite high,” he said.

He hopes that PT TIMAH Tbk’s Mobile Health Unit can return to the village in the future so that more residents can access medical services—especially since the program is provided free of charge.

“We hope the Mobile Health Unit can come again. This is the second time they’ve visited. The community truly feels the benefits because it helps with early detection of health issues. We wish PT TIMAH Tbk continued success and hope they will keep supporting the community,” he added.

Gunawan (45), a resident of Bukit Layang Village, came with his wife, Maini (42), to have their health checked at the Mobile Health Unit. He said that the service allowed them to better understand their health condition.

“I didn’t really plan to get a checkup, but since there was free medical service, I decided to try. During the examination, I found out my cholesterol level was high, so now I know I have to take better care of my diet and health,” he said.

He and his wife hope PT TIMAH Tbk’s Mobile Health Unit will return to the village so they can more easily access medical services.

“Hopefully the Mobile Health Unit will come again because the service is good and it really helps the community,” he said.

Similarly, Karina brought her child, who was running a fever, for treatment. She said PT TIMAH Tbk’s Mobile Health Unit has been very helpful for residents seeking medical care.

“Thank you to PT TIMAH Tbk for providing health services for us. This really helps because we can get treatment nearby and free of charge. We hope the Mobile Health Unit can come again, at least once a month, so we can access medical care more easily,” she said.
