SOUTH BANGKA -- To help ease the burden of medical expenses, PT Timah has provided assistance to Dian Afitra, a resident of Teladan Sub-district, Toboali District, South Bangka Regency.
This assistance will be used by Dian Afitra to cover the medical costs for her child, Ramadan Fitra, who was recently involved in an accident and required intensive hospital care as a result.
Dian appeared grateful and cheerful when welcoming the PT Timah Team on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) at her home on Sepakat Alley, Teladan Sub-district. The aid was personally handed over by PT Timah’s Marine Mining Supervisor, Juli Armansyah.
According to Dian, her family was involved in an accident and the treatment costs were not covered by BPJS (Indonesia’s National Health Insurance). Meanwhile, her child’s condition was critical and needed urgent medical attention.
"The condition was very critical and required surgery. Since accident-related treatments aren’t covered by BPJS, we had to pay out of pocket. My child had to undergo head surgery and intensive care in the PICU. The cost wasn’t small, but thank God, many people helped us," she said.
Dian mentioned that she had to borrow money from the hospital for the treatment, but she’s grateful for the support she received, including from PT Timah.
"Thank God, my child’s condition is getting better, although not fully recovered. He still has to undergo therapy at the hospital. Now he’s back home, he can play but still can’t walk or stand on his own yet," she added.
She expressed her appreciation to PT Timah for helping ease the financial burden. For her, the assistance meant a lot as it allowed her to pay off the hospital bills.
"I work at a workshop, and my income only covers our daily meals. Thank you to everyone who has helped, including PT Timah, for helping us settle the medical bills," she said.
Ramadan Fitra also expressed his thanks to PT Timah for the support.
"I'm happy to get the help. Thank you," he said with a smile.
