Realizing the Golden Generation 2045: PT Timah’s Initiatives to Prevent Stunting and Improve Children's Nutrition

BANGKA – PT Timah remains committed to enhancing the quality of human resources in its mining areas. One of its key initiatives is supporting nutrition fulfillment for stunted children in its operational regions.

The company frequently provides supplementary food for stunted children, distributing these food packages as part of its Kegiatan Menurunkan Stunting (Kemunting) program, which continues to be actively promoted by PT Timah.

PT Timah's Kemunting program aligns with the Indonesian government's policy to reduce stunting prevalence through prevention and treatment. This initiative also supports President Prabowo’s Asta Cita vision, which emphasizes strengthening human resource development, science, technology, education, health, sports achievements, gender equality, and the empowerment of women, youth, and people with disabilities.

Recently, PT Timah distributed dozens of supplementary food packages for pregnant women and stunted children in Lingkungan Nelayan II, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, on Wednesday (February 26, 2025).

The food packages were handed over directly by the Acting Regent of Bangka, accompanied by PT Timah's Division Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Rahmat Taufik.

One of the recipients, Marhaji Maharani (23), expressed her gratitude and happiness upon receiving the package, which she found highly beneficial, especially as she is currently eight months pregnant with her second child.

"I am very grateful and happy to receive this additional food package. I noticed that it includes vitamins and supplements for pregnant women. This is the first time I have received such assistance," she said.

She also prayed for PT Timah's continued success so that the company could keep providing nutritional support and knowledge to women, especially pregnant mothers and parents of stunted children.

"I hope PT Timah continues to succeed so that more mothers are encouraged to provide nutritious food for their children," Marhaji added.

Meanwhile, Acting Regent of Bangka, Isnaini, praised PT Timah’s Kemunting program, which is being carried out in collaboration with AIMI Babel, as a beneficial initiative that educates parents on providing nutritious food for children.

"We highly appreciate PT Timah's efforts, and we hope this awareness program will have a positive impact on our residents, particularly in realizing a better future generation—the Golden Generation 2045," said Isnaini.

In 2024, PT Timah has distributed hundreds of supplementary food packages for stunted children. These food packages are expected to accelerate improvements in the recipients' nutritional status.

Kemunting is PT Timah’s concrete step toward enhancing human resource quality. The program provides education on stunting prevention and treatment, targeting various groups such as teenagers, pregnant women, and the general public.

As part of the Kemunting initiative, PT Timah also held a Nutrition Learning Class at the end of last year in Cupat Village, West Bangka Regency, in collaboration with the Breastfeeding Mothers Association (AIMI) Bangka Belitung.

Additionally, to improve children’s nutrition, PT Timah actively supports a nutritious meal program implemented in 12 schools in 2024, spread across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and Riau Province.

PT Timah's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the company actively participates in nutrition education, provides nutritious food for pregnant women, toddlers, and children, and supports government initiatives to reduce stunting prevalence in its operational areas.

"PT Timah collaborates with various parties to ensure that its nutrition improvement programs are well-targeted and have a positive impact. The company continues to develop innovative and sustainable programs to enhance community nutrition, particularly for stunted children," he said. (*).
