KUNDUR UTARA – In support of the National Food Security Program, PT Timah Tbk Kundur Area, together with the Kundur Utara/Barat Police, held a One Million Hectares Corn Planting initiative.
This corn planting activity was conducted on community-owned land located at Jl. Hang Jebat, Sungai Raya Rt.015/Rw.007, Tanjung Berlian Village, Kundur Utara District, Karimun Regency, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
This support demonstrates the company's tangible commitment to contributing to government programs and enhancing collaboration between PT Timah, stakeholders, and communities around its operational areas.
The simultaneous planting of corn across one million hectares is part of a food security initiative in line with government directives and cooperation among the National Police, GAPKI, Perhutani, Inhutani, private sector, and independent farmers to achieve food self-sufficiency by 2025.
On the occasion, Kundur Utara/Barat Police Chief AKP Efendi Marpaung emphasized that this program is a strategic step to maintain food security amidst increasingly complex global challenges.
The simultaneous corn planting reflects a shared commitment to supporting government efforts in ensuring sustainable food availability in Indonesia.
“This activity demonstrates real cross-sectoral synergy involving the military, police, local government, judiciary, and private companies to realize robust food security in Kundur Barat District,” said AKP Efendi Marpaung.
He further added that corn, as one of the main commodities, is expected to boost national food production while empowering communities in the agricultural sector.
Meanwhile, Kundur Utara Subdistrict Head, Murnizam, expressed appreciation to the Kuba Police and PT Timah Tbk for the simultaneous planting of corn on one million hectares.
"Alhamdulillah, part of this initiative is taking place in our district. Hopefully, this will inspire our community to adopt corn planting in their own gardens. Thank you to the community for their enthusiasm in attending and helping with the planting. We hope the harvest will be very rewarding,” he said.
The event was attended by Eka Budhy Susanto representing PT Timah Tbk’s management, Kundur Utara/Barat Police Chief AKP Efendi Marpaung, Kundur Utara Subdistrict Head Murnizam, Danramil 03/Kdr representative Serka Sunarko, Babinsa Sertu Yadi, Tanjung Berlian Village Head Bambang Irianto, agricultural extension coordinators for Kuta and Kuba, the chairman of the Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan) for Kuta and Kuba, members of the Kuba Police, subdistrict and village staff, as well as local journalists, religious leaders, youth leaders, and community members.
