Realizing Economic Independence for Persons with Disabilities, PT Timah Provides Training on Making Processed Beverage Products at Mentok State Special School

WEST BANGKA -- Disabled Entrepreneur School is one of PT Timah's Social Innovation programs implemented in the Processing and Smelting Division to support the Proper Gold program.

The Disabled Entrepreneur School Program is implemented at the Muntok State Special School. This program is also an effort to empower communities around the mine, including people with disabilities.

This time, the Disabled Entrepreneur School Program presented training in making processed beverage products, namely fruit juice, for students at Mentok State Special School, West Bangka Regency, on Tuesday (6/8/2024).

Previously, the Director of Operations and Production at PT Timah Nur Adi Kuncoro directly inspected the training program for people with disabilities. Now training continues.

Apart from preparing various juice-making equipment, PT Timah brought in professional staff to train students to be independent.

This training presented instructors from the Rumah Literacy and Education Institute, Fakhrur Rozy, to train the students.

The training participant, a female special school student, said that she was very happy to participate in the training on juice drink products from PT Timah.

"Very happy to participate in the juice making training, hopefully later we can sell with the knowledge gained from the instructor. Thank you PT Timah for caring about us," said Putri.

Likewise, Nada appreciated PT Timah for providing this training to prepare them for the future.

The head of the Region IV Bangka Baray Education Service Branch, Bangka Belitung Province, Sudarni, appreciated the Disabled Entrepreneurial School activities provided by PT Timah for SLB Students.

According to him, this training is a concrete step in the role of BUMN, PT Timah in supporting education as mandated by the national education system law that education is the joint responsibility of the government and society.

"This is useful because it encourages independence, especially for SLBN Mentok students in skills and vocations so that they can equip the students in living their lives," said Sudarni.

Sudarni hopes that the activities will continue, according to him, the activities are very noble and touch directly on the human side.

"Hopefully PT Timah's attention and support can continue, inspire other BUMN / components of society, and spread to other schools. This training activity is also very noble because it directly touches the human side of us," he said.

Meanwhile, Training Supervisor Instructor Fakhrur Rozy, said that PT Timah had given birth to Disabled Entrepreneurs who were independent and economically strong.

"We hope that disabled entrepreneurs can contribute to social inclusion and open up employment opportunities for the general public. Disabled entrepreneurs are expected to be able to have superior products so that their acceptance in society can be meaningful and without obstacles," he said. (*)
