RDP with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, President Director of PT Timah Tbk Seeks Support on Regulations and Company Performance Achievements

JAKARTA -- President Director of PT Timah Tbk, Restu Widiyantoro, called for support from Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to realize the vision of “Tin for the People,” so the company can make an optimal contribution to the nation, state, and society.

This was conveyed during a Hearing Meeting with Commission VI DPR RI on the company’s performance in the first semester of 2025 and its 2025 performance roadmap, held at the DPR RI in Jakarta on Monday (September 22, 2025).

The Hearing Meeting, chaired by Deputy Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI Andi Muhammad Nurdin Halid, stated that PT Timah is not just a mining company but also a strategic entity that plays a significant role in managing mineral resources, especially tin, which is one of the leading commodities in the global market.

“There are several strategic issues we need to review together, including the company’s operational and financial performance in the first semester of 2025, its contributions to the state through dividends, taxes, and non-tax state revenues, as well as PT Timah’s governance and sustainability in balancing business interests with environmental sustainability and community empowerment in its operational areas,” he said.

He added that the commission wanted to understand the roadmap regarding PT Timah’s performance plans and its transformation direction in addressing global industry challenges, downstreaming, diversification, and steps to strengthen competitiveness in the global market, while also encouraging downstream development and supporting sustainable national economic growth.

Accompanied by PT Timah’s Director of Operations and Production, Nur Adi Kuncoro; Director of Business Development, Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara; and Director of Finance and Risk Management, Fina Eliani, Restu presented the company’s performance covering operational and production achievements, financial results, downstreaming, corporate strategies to enhance performance and contributions, challenges faced by PT Timah, and the support needed.

Restu emphasized that PT Timah Tbk remains committed to improving corporate governance to enhance performance and provide optimal contributions.

“PT Timah continues to evaluate the conditions and challenges we face. At PT Timah, we agree that tin is for the people. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that the people can benefit from tin in Bangka Belitung and other regions, which should bring prosperity to society,” he said.

Restu acknowledged that PT Timah is facing several challenges, but with the strategies in place and support from both the executive and legislative bodies, the company is confident it can achieve its production targets.

On this occasion, he also sought support from Commission VI DPR RI, including support in monitoring and controlling efforts to ensure PT Timah Tbk operates in accordance with good governance principles.

In addition, policy support is needed, particularly regarding regulations that mandate all tin ore obtained from illegal mining activities within PT Timah’s concession area (IUP) to be returned to the company.

PT Timah also expects regulatory acceleration to support tin downstreaming, particularly related to the obligation to sell refined tin through the exchange, which has become a challenge, as well as synchronization of mining areas. The company also raised concerns about changes in zoning under the Coastal and Small Islands Zoning Plan (RZWP3K), which have made some offshore concessions unmineable, leading to a decline in production.

“Another support we need is the acceleration of government regulations derived from the Mining Law, which would improve governance and tin trading practices, support the designation of tin as a critical strategic mineral, and advance downstream tin development,” he explained.

Restu also expressed hope for stronger coordination among ministries and agencies to simplify and accelerate permit processes.

“Currently, PT Timah’s production performance is showing an upward trend with support from the task force. We are optimistic about meeting our targets. Hopefully, with these strategies, profits will increase, allowing Bangka Belitung to truly become a paradise for the people of Bangka Belitung and for the people of Indonesia,” he concluded.
