PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah acted swiftly to assist residents of Gajah Mada and Pintu Air villages in Rangkui District, Pangkalpinang, who were affected by a tornado on Sunday (November 3, 2024).
As part of the MIND ID mining holding company, PT Timah delivered food aid to meet the needs of disaster victims on Monday (November 4, 2024).
The disaster resulted in damage to dozens of homes. Together with the local government, PT Timah is collaborating to address the impact of the tornado.
Sunar Nugroho Adiatmoko, Head of the Social Protection and Assurance Division of the Pangkalpinang Social Service, stated that the Social Service has set up a field kitchen to assist.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration in disaster response to ensure quick and effective handling.
"Given the limited resources of the government, we hope this collaboration can continue. When a disaster occurs, we must all act promptly to resolve the issue," he said.
Kamsuri, the Secretary of RT 02 RW 1 Gajah Mada, expressed gratitude to those who have assisted, including food supplies.
"We hope the issues of damaged homes can be addressed quickly so that residents are no longer exposed to harsh weather," he said.
Similarly, Khadijah, Chairwoman of RW 003 Pintu Air, expressed her hopes that the received aid would be beneficial and used wisely.
"May PT Timah continue to succeed and contribute more to help the community during disasters," she said.
Currently, local residents, alongside the local government, are working together to repair the damage caused by this disaster.
One affected resident, Mardiana, hopes for swift repairs to her home.
"We hope to receive assistance to fix our house, as this is our shelter," she remarked. (*)
