PT TIMAH Partners with Prosecutors' Offices to Strengthen Legal Certainty and Asset Protection in the Riau Islands

TANJUNGPINANG -- Strengthening corporate governance and ensuring that operational activities comply with applicable laws and regulations are essential steps for PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk in optimizing the management of Indonesia's tin resources.

To support these efforts, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has established cooperation agreements with the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office, the Karimun District Prosecutor's Office, and the Lingga District Prosecutor's Office concerning the handling of civil and state administrative legal matters and the optimization of asset recovery.

The cooperation agreements were signed at Aston Tanjungpinang on Friday (October 23, 2026). The agreements extend existing partnerships with the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office and the Karimun District Prosecutor's Office while marking the company's first formal collaboration with the Lingga District Prosecutor's Office.

Expanding the partnership to Lingga Regency represents a strategic step in line with the company's planned operational activities in the area. Through this collaboration, legal support is expected to be available from the planning stage through the implementation of business activities, ensuring that every corporate action has a clear legal foundation.

President Director of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, Restu Widiyantoro, expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Prosecutors' Offices in helping the company conduct its operations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the principles of good corporate governance.

According to Restu, legal assistance from law enforcement authorities plays an important role in improving corporate governance while supporting efforts to enhance the company's performance and contributions to the state.

"We appreciate the support provided by the Prosecutors' Offices, particularly in ensuring that all PT TIMAH operations are carried out in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.

Restu explained that the company continues to improve its corporate governance to increase its contributions to the state and restore Indonesia's sovereignty over the management of its tin resources. These efforts include strengthening business processes, increasing production, and improving oversight of the tin trade to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

He emphasized that good corporate governance is a fundamental pillar in optimizing the potential of Indonesia's tin resources to deliver greater benefits to the country and its people.

"Our primary objective remains to improve the welfare of the community," he said.

Restu added that the benefits of tin resource management should extend to all segments of society, not only those directly involved in mining activities but also communities surrounding the company's operational areas and other stakeholders.

Head of the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office, Transiswara Adhi, welcomed the extension and expansion of the cooperation agreements. He noted that the existing partnership with PT TIMAH in the Kundur area has provided a strong foundation for continued collaboration.

According to Transiswara, through its Civil and State Administrative Affairs Division, the Prosecutor's Office is authorized to provide legal assistance, legal opinions, legal services, law enforcement support, and other legal actions to state-owned enterprises in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Through this cooperation, the Prosecutors' Offices aim to support PT TIMAH in conducting its business activities in compliance with regulations, strengthening the implementation of good corporate governance, protecting the interests of the state and the company, and improving legal compliance across all business operations.

Transiswara specifically emphasized the importance of providing legal assistance from the outset of the company's planned operations in Lingga Regency. With the involvement of the Lingga District Prosecutor's Office, legal support is expected to extend to the new operational area beginning at the planning stage, allowing potential legal issues to be identified and addressed early.

"Through this cooperation, we are committed to supporting PT TIMAH in ensuring that its business activities and operations comply with applicable laws and regulations. Second, we aim to further strengthen the implementation of good corporate governance. Third, we seek to protect the interests of both the state and the company in civil and state administrative matters. Fourth, we aim to improve legal compliance across all of the company's business activities," he said.

In addition to legal assistance in civil and state administrative matters, the cooperation agreements also cover the optimization of asset management and recovery, ranging from asset tracing to efforts to recover assets or rights belonging to PT TIMAH.

Under the agreements, the Prosecutors' Offices may assist in identifying and verifying the legal status of assets, providing legal opinions, pursuing non-litigation settlements through negotiation and mediation, and representing the company's interests in court when necessary and within their legal authority.

Transiswara instructed officials at the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office, the Karimun District Prosecutor's Office, and the Lingga District Prosecutor's Office to promptly follow up on the agreements by developing joint work plans, identifying legal and asset-related issues, strengthening coordination with PT TIMAH, and submitting regular progress reports.
