PT TIMAH’s TJSL Programs Reach 15,605 Beneficiaries, From Education to Economic Empowerment

PANGKALPINANG -- A total of 15,605 people benefited from PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs as of the first semester of 2026. The programs cover various areas, including education, healthcare, environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and social and community development.

The TJSL programs are part of PT TIMAH’s efforts to deliver broader benefits to communities across its operational areas in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, Riau Islands Province, and Jakarta.

The TJSL programs are implemented in an integrated manner alongside the Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) and the Micro and Small Enterprise Funding Program (PUMK).

Various flagship programs are carried out to address community needs while fostering self-reliance. In the education sector, PT TIMAH runs the Pemali Boarding School and the National Movement to Eradicate Mathematics Illiteracy (Gernas Tastaka) as part of its commitment to improving the quality of human resources.

In the environmental sector, the company implements programs such as the Integrated Kolong Program, mangrove planting, and the 1,000 Trees for the Nation Program. These initiatives are aimed at supporting environmental restoration while raising public awareness of the importance of ecosystem conservation.

In the healthcare sector, PT TIMAH operates the Oto Sihat (Mobile Health Service) Program to bring healthcare services closer to communities. The company also runs the Kemunting Program (Stunting Prevention Activities), which focuses on preventing and addressing stunting through education and community support.

Supporting community economic resilience is also an important part of the company’s programs. Through the Food Security Program and Assisted Cooperatives, communities are encouraged to develop local economic potential and build sustainable self-reliance.

Meanwhile, through the PUMK program, PT TIMAH implements several flagship initiatives for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). These include providing MSE financing in collaboration with BRI in accordance with regulations issued by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, enhancing MSE competencies and capacities through training and workshops, as well as organizing exhibitions and promotional activities for products from assisted MSEs.

In the first semester of 2026, eight of the 16 targeted flagship PUMK activities had been implemented, representing 50 percent of the annual target.

Beyond economic empowerment, PT TIMAH’s TJSL programs also support the preservation of local culture through the Gebong Mamarong Traditional Preservation Program. The initiative is part of the company’s efforts to safeguard cultural values and local wisdom amid changing times.

PT TIMAH also implements the Livable Housing (RTLH) Program to help communities obtain safer, healthier, and more adequate housing. The program reflects the company’s commitment to improving the quality of life of communities in its operational areas.

One of the beneficiaries of PT TIMAH’s TJSL programs, Maryati, a resident of Belitung who received assistance to renovate her home, expressed her gratitude for the support provided by PT TIMAH.

“The kitchen had already collapsed. Whenever it rained, we were afraid that the timber and roofing sheets would fall on us. When strong winds came, we were very frightened and could only pray for our safety because almost the entire house was already damaged,” Maryati said some time ago.

She said she had long been worried whenever bad weather occurred because, in addition to the leaking roof, the condition of the house also posed a risk to her safety. During heavy rain, water would often enter the house and soak the mattress.

“I often prayed and wondered who would help us repair this house. It was impossible for us to repair it ourselves because we are already old and do not have the money,” she said.

The benefits of PT TIMAH’s TJSL programs have also been felt by the Sawang Village Fishermen’s Association in West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province.

Chairman of the Sawang Village Fishermen’s Association, Jumari, said the assistance had been very helpful to local fishermen, particularly amid uncertain fishing yields.

“Alhamdulillah, we used the assistance from PT TIMAH to purchase fishing nets for the fishermen. The nets were selected according to their needs, particularly for catching ikan biang and ikan lome,” Jumari said.

In the education sector, Ulfia Maharani, a student at PT TIMAH’s Pemali Boarding School, said the program had greatly supported students in pursuing their aspirations.

She hopes that the educational support provided by PT TIMAH and MIND ID will continue so that more students can benefit from the program. Ulfia herself aims to continue her studies at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), majoring in Psychology.

“Thank you to PT TIMAH for supporting my education and helping ease my parents’ financial burden. This is an opportunity for me to achieve my best,” she said. (*)
