PANGKALPINANG - PT Timah remains committed to implementing its corporate social and environmental responsibility (CSER) program in the education sector within the company's operational areas.
The CSER program in education implemented by PT Timah includes scholarships, capacity building for teachers, strengthening access to education, and improving infrastructure in the surrounding operational areas.
PT Timah develops education programs based on the needs of the communities in its operational areas. One of these programs supports educational infrastructure in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province.
The commitment of Mining Industry Holding MIND ID members in the field of education aligns with the sustainability pillar of MIND ID (Sustainability Pathway), where education is considered a crucial aspect that, in line with achieving TPB 4, ensures inclusive and equitable education quality.
In 2023, PT Timah once again provided scholarships for high school-level education to 36 students from Bangka Belitung Islands Province and Riau Islands Province through the PT Timah Scholarship Class program.
Additionally, PT Timah supports the improvement of educational facilities, such as contributing to the construction of the fence for the Sawang Early Childhood Education (PAUD) school in Kundur District, Karimun Regency.
Sugianto, Head of the Department of Education and Culture of Karimun Regency, appreciates PT Timah for its concern for the education sector in Karimun Regency.
"PT Timah has supported the education sector in Karimun Regency by providing educational scholarships for children in Karimun," he said.
He also mentioned that PT Timah has assisted in improving educational facilities and infrastructure in Karimun Regency, aligning with the government's program to enhance the quality of education.
"PT Timah has also assisted educational institutions in terms of infrastructure, and this has been very helpful," he added.
He hopes that in the future, PT Timah will continue to exist and support education in Karimun Regency. This is aimed at enhancing the quality of human resources in the region.
