PT Timah’s Ongoing Environmental Commitment: Planting 2,500 Mangrove Seedlings in Karimun

KARIMUN -- PT Timah continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable environmental management, one of which is through the regular planting of mangroves in the company’s operational areas.

The mangrove planting initiative is also part of the company’s marine reclamation program in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province. This time, PT Timah planted 2,500 mangrove seedlings along Pelambung Beach, Pongkar Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency, on Wednesday (May 21, 2025).

This initiative by PT Timah, a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, is a concrete effort to protect coastal ecosystems and reduce beach erosion.

Pongkar Village Head, Abdul Jamal, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s contributions in supporting environmental conservation while also increasing community involvement.

“PT Timah’s programs such as mangrove planting, installing erosion barriers, and restocking crabs directly involve local residents. In addition to positively impacting the environment, these activities also provide economic benefits to our community,” he said.

Echoing that sentiment, Adam, the head of RT 01 in Pongkar Village, noted that PT Timah has made significant contributions to the community’s social life.

“PT Timah’s assistance isn’t limited to environmental efforts—it also supports social, religious, sports, and cultural sectors. We have felt the direct benefits and hope the company continues to grow and create even greater positive impacts in the future,” Adam added.

PT Timah’s tangible actions demonstrate that the company is not only focused on operational activities but is also actively engaged in environmental conservation and community empowerment. Through collaboration with local communities, PT Timah continues to strengthen its role in harmonizing industrial activities with ecosystem sustainability.
