BANGKA – PT Timah's Mobile Health Unit continues to provide healthcare services to communities within its operational areas to help improve public health.
This time, the Mobile Health Unit visited the Nelayan 2 area in Sungailiat Subdistrict, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, on Thursday (31/10/2024).
The arrival of PT Timah's Mobile Health Unit was warmly received by the community, with 135 patients taking advantage of the free healthcare services offered onboard.
Farid Anshary, the Head of Sungailiat Subdistrict, praised PT Timah’s mobile health services, noting the enthusiasm from residents eager to get health check-ups.
"We can see that many people are coming for check-ups, not just because they’re sick but to proactively detect potential health issues," he said.
Farid added that his office often collaborates with PT Timah on various community programs, including social assistance and health initiatives.
"We have worked frequently with PT Timah, and its programs have greatly impacted our residents. We've had stunting prevention programs, free healthcare, social aid, and much more," he shared.
Looking ahead, Farid hopes this collaboration will continue, allowing more residents to benefit from PT Timah's presence. He noted the potential for joint initiatives in areas such as MSME development.
“May this collaboration continue so the benefits reach even more people. With a population of around 22,000, partnerships like this allow us to monitor community health better. We hope PT Timah remains a grounded company that continues to bring value to the community,” Farid added.
Iswandi, a resident who used the health service, also expressed his gratitude for PT Timah’s support in providing healthcare to coastal communities.
"This initiative is extremely helpful for us on the coast. This is my first time receiving care from PT Timah's Mobile Health Unit. Thank you for this service; I hope it becomes a regular visit," he said.
According to Iswandi, free healthcare services help residents save on costs and make access easier due to the proximity.
“I hope this service becomes regular so more people can receive treatment. Sometimes people hesitate to seek treatment, but this service is free and even provides us with medication, which would cost money at a typical healthcare facility,” Iswandi concluded. (*)
