PT TIMAH’s Mobile Health Service Visits Merawang Village, Providing Medical Services and Health Education

BANGKA -- Rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of residents of Merawang Village, Bangka Regency, to receive free health check-ups from PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s Mobile Health Service, which was stationed at the Merawang Village Office on Thursday (April 23, 2026).

The presence of PT TIMAH’s Mobile Health Service was warmly welcomed by the community. Even while the village government and the Mobile Health team were still preparing equipment, several residents had already begun lining up. People continued to arrive, and within a short time, the village office became crowded.

The Mobile Health Service is a free medical check-up program provided by PT TIMAH to improve public health quality while also promoting health education and healthy living practices.

One of the residents, Liu Kim Phin (62), said the service was very helpful as it allowed him to receive medical treatment without any cost.

“This Mobile Health Service from PT TIMAH is very helpful because we can receive treatment for free. Normally, going to the hospital requires expenses, especially for lower-income communities like us,” said Liu Kim Phin.

“Here, we can directly check our health for free, such as blood pressure, blood tests, and other examinations. I hope this Mobile Health program by PT TIMAH can continue in various regions because it is very beneficial for people in Bangka Belitung,” he added.

Seeing the strong public enthusiasm, dr. Dewi Safitri, a doctor serving in PT TIMAH’s Mobile Health program, stated that the initiative is an effective way to educate the public about the importance of health.

“I always enjoy this atmosphere—seeing people come in large numbers to check their health, forming long lines. This shows that our community is beginning to recognize health as an important aspect of life,” said Dewi Safitri, who regularly provides services through the program.

According to her, the Mobile Health Service not only provides free medical services but also educates the public to routinely monitor their health in order to detect potential diseases early.

“I don’t see the Mobile Health program as merely a technical medical service. More than that, it is a very effective campaign to raise awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of Merawang Village, Veter, acknowledged that public health remains a key concern for the village government, as the community’s immunity and overall health levels are considered relatively low.

“We do face challenges related to the community’s immunity levels. So far, we have only been able to conduct routine check-ups through the Posyandu, and even then, with limited medical personnel and equipment. Occasionally, and in certain cases, we request the local health center to conduct comprehensive examinations for residents with chronic illnesses,” he said.

The Merawang Village Government expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s Mobile Health program and hopes it can be carried out continuously.

In addition to providing health check-ups, PT TIMAH also distributed basic food packages to 120 residents in need.

Muhammad Ryan Nofiandy, Chief of Merawang Police Sector, was also present at the event. He emphasized the importance of all parties consistently delivering positive impacts to the wider community.

“I am very pleased to attend events like this. In my opinion, the community should feel the positive impact from all stakeholders. Programs like this Mobile Health Service should always be carried out regularly,” he said. (*)
