PT Timah’s Kemunting Program Helps Reduce Stunting Rates in Cupat Village, Residents Hope for Continuation

WEST BANGKA – Supporting the government’s initiative to eradicate stunting in its operational areas, PT Timah Tbk implemented the Kemunting (Reducing Stunting) program aimed at stunting prevention and management.

The Kemunting program, carried out in Cupat Village, West Bangka Regency, from December 2-19, 2024, has had a tangible impact on residents.

In collaboration with the Bangka Belitung Breastfeeding Association (AIMI), the Cupat Village Government, and Posyandu cadres, PT Timah delivered education and activities to prevent and address stunting in Cupat Village, Paritiga District.

The program included educating mothers about the prevention and dangers of stunting and activities designed to support children's growth and development.

Fitri Surya Fabiola (26), a Cupat resident, expressed her joy at her son Muhamad Arqo Fairuz's weight gain after participating in the Kemunting program and learning to prepare nutritious meals.

"The Kemunting program by PT Timah is excellent for helping children with stunting. We were taught how to prepare nutritious meals for our children. PT Timah also provided necessities. Since this program began, my son’s weight has increased. I’m very happy. Thank you, PT Timah," she said.

Similarly, Riska (34) shared that her son, Idam (2), has developed a better appetite and benefited from various educational activities.

"The Kemunting program is great. Children are taught discipline, like washing hands. They can socialize and actively play and learn. During communal meals, their appetites improve, leading to weight gain. It has positively impacted my child. I hope PT Timah continues programs like this to promote health and well-being in Cupat Village," she added.

Fera Sabrina, a cadre of Bina Bangsa Posyandu in Cupat Village, noted the significant positive impact on children’s growth during the 12-day Kemunting program.

"Alhamdulillah, there were significant weight gains among the children during the program. Stunting numbers have decreased. Mothers now understand what nutritious foods to provide, including the right proportions of carbohydrates, proteins, and vegetables, and how to prepare them. Thank you to PT Timah for full support," she explained.

Cupat Village Secretary Riza Andriani emphasized that the Kemunting program supports the village government’s efforts to reduce stunting rates.

"Alhamdulillah, this program has been incredibly helpful in addressing stunting in Cupat Village, which remains a concern for us. PT Timah’s program has significantly aided our efforts. We need external contributions to help reduce stunting," she said.

She detailed the Kemunting activities in Cupat Village, which included breastfeeding education, cooking nutritious meals, and providing assistance for children. The program was a collaboration between PT Timah and the Cupat Village Government.

"Thank you to PT Timah for organizing the Kemunting Program in Cupat Village. PT Timah fully supported us, from education to implementation. I hope this program continues to make an impact," she concluded. (*)
