PT Timah's Initiative in Supporting the Preservation of Indigenous Customs and Culture in Mining Communities

PANGKALPINANG - PT Timah continues to strive to build sustainable relationships with local communities in the operational areas of the company. In addition to supporting indigenous communities, the preservation of culture and traditions is also one of PT Timah's concerns.

As a member of the Mining Industry Holding of MIND ID, PT Timah plays an active role in preserving indigenous communities, culture, and traditions. PT Timah even takes the initiative to support the Mapur Indigenous community through the Gebong Memarong Indigenous Village program.

PT Timah's support for the preservation of customs, culture, and traditions includes supporting the organization of community traditions and cultures, supporting traditional art activities, and more.

PT Timah's commitment to preserving traditions and culture is manifested in the company's support for activities such as the 'Sedekah Kapong Kundi Bersatu' tradition in West Bangka, supporting the construction of the Sentana Jering Amantubillah Traditional House in Pelangas Village, West Bangka Regency.

Furthermore, in 2023, PT Timah also supported traditions such as the Bulan Prayer Tradition in Puput Village, the Ketupat War in Tempilang Village, West Bangka, and others.

Supporting the preservation of customs can also align with environmental sustainability principles. PT Timah collaborates with traditional institutions and communities to preserve the traditions and cultures of the community.

Anggi Siahaan, Head of Corporate Communications at PT Timah, stated that the company's support for community customs activities is an important step in building partnerships with the community.

Anggi said that traditions, culture, and the existence of indigenous communities bring harmony to the social fabric of society.

"PT Timah plays a special role and pays attention to programs with an ethnic nuance, as well as demonstrating care for cultural assets and local wisdom and traditions by supporting community institutions through Indigenous Institutions," said Anggi. (*)
