BELITUNG TIMUR -- A joyful smile never left the face of Kulup (47) as his raffle ticket number was announced by the host during the Health Week event held as part of PT Timah Tbk’s 49th Anniversary celebration on Sunday (July 27, 2025) at Nyiur Melambai Beach, Lalang Village, Manggar District, East Belitung Regency.
Kulup, who works as a security guard at SMA Negeri 1 Simpang Pesak, couldn’t stop admiring the motorcycle he won as the event’s grand prize, which he would soon take home.
He and his wife left their village of Simpang Pesak at dawn to head to Lalang, Manggar, fully excited about the Health Week event. Despite the one-hour journey, Kulup said he didn’t mind at all as he was determined to join the celebration of PT Timah’s anniversary.
"My heart was racing when the emcee started reading the numbers. I was a bit nervous since not all the tickets had been announced. I even jumped a little and hugged my wife when I realized I had won a motorcycle," he said cheerfully.
Kulup shared that he had no special feeling or intuition about winning that day, but the journey with his wife turned out to be truly worthwhile.
"Thank you, PT Timah. This is the first prize I’ve ever won, and of course I’m happy—this trip was really worth it. Once again, thank you PT Timah. I wish you continued success and prosperity," he added.

The joy of winning a motorcycle was also experienced by Henny Puspasari (32), a participant from Selingsing Village. She admitted she was about to leave the venue when her number was suddenly called.
"I was already walking toward the parking lot since most of the prizes had been drawn, but then I heard the announcer call my number. Alhamdulillah, I got lucky today. I’m so touched and very happy," she said with a smile.
Initially, Henny didn’t plan to attend the Health Week event, but she eventually agreed to join after being invited by her husband, as it was a day off and they had no other plans.
"At first, I didn’t want to go, but my husband encouraged me since it was a holiday and we didn’t have anything else to do. So we planned to join the walk together," she explained.
She said she would use the electric motorbike she won for commuting to work, taking her child to school, and other daily activities.
"Alhamdulillah, today I’m bringing home an electric motorbike from the Health Week event. God willing, I’ll use it for work, taking my child to school, and daily routines," she said.
Many hopes and prayers were shared by the local community in Manggar as PT Timah’s 49th anniversary on August 2, 2025, draws near.
"As PT Timah turns 49, I hope the company continues to thrive and bring more benefits to the people of East Belitung," Henny concluded.
During the Health Week event in Belitung Island, PT Timah handed out hundreds of prizes, including electronic appliances, household items, and grand prizes like motorcycles for the public. With the theme "For the Red and White," the event served as a gesture of harmony between PT Timah and the local community.
PT Timah also provided several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) donations during the event, such as support for mosque construction, aid for the Sabrina's birthday concert, machinery for fishermen, home roof repairs, corn-cutting machines, school bags, and medical expenses.
The celebration was made livelier with a local MSME bazaar featuring dozens of small and medium enterprises from East Belitung.
Previously, as part of the anniversary celebration, PT Timah had also conducted blood donations and free medical services for the people of Belitung Island.
