PT Timah Tbk's Firefighting Team is alert to help put out fires in the Takari Beach area, Rebo Village

BANGKA -- The PT Timah Tbk Fire Department team swiftly helped tame the red rooster in the fire that occurred in the Takari Beach area, Rebo Village, Sungailiat District, Bangka Regency, Wednesday (4/10/2023).

The fire that occurred in a forest covering an area of ??seven hectares caused residents to panic, they even tried to extinguish the fire with whatever equipment they could to prevent it from spreading.

One of the Rebo residents, Fendi, said that before contacting the PT Timah Tbk fire brigade (Damkar), the residents had time to extinguish the fire with whatever equipment they could. However, the fire was not extinguished, especially since the weather conditions and winds were very strong.

"The fire was around half past six in the afternoon and the PT Timah Tbk Damkar came at six. "Before the fire brigade arrived, local residents and I had tried to put out the fire with whatever tools we had, but we were unable to put it out because the wind was quite strong at that time," he said.

He said he was grateful that the PT Timah Tbk Damkar team swiftly helped put out the fire after they reported this incident.

"We tried to contact various parties to ask for help, and we are very grateful that the PT Timah fire team came to help extinguish the fire. We cannot imagine that if the PT Timah fire team had not intervened, perhaps the situation would have been even more dangerous. "Thank you PT Timah for helping us," said Fendi.

He said that in extinguishing this fire, apart from being assisted by the PT Timah Tbk Fire Department team, he was also assisted by the Bangka Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Sat Pol PP) Team.

"Thank you to the teams who were involved, and for their quick response in dealing with this disaster," he said.

According to him, they don't yet know the cause of the fire but he hopes this doesn't happen again.

"We don't know for sure about the cause, but it is possible that this is the work of nosy human hands. In our opinion, the cause of the fire was cigarette butts. "Hopefully in the future this kind of incident will not happen again," he concluded.
