NORTH SUMATRA -- The Emergency Response Group (ERG) of PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting disaster relief efforts following the flooding that struck Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.
Through the ESDM Disaster Response Post and the BUMN Disaster Care initiative located in Dusun Cempaka, Teluk Bakung Village, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency, the ERG team has carried out various emergency response actions by providing medical services to affected residents starting Thursday (December 5, 2025).
The ERG team delivered direct medical services to evacuees and nearby residents in the disaster area. Through medical data collection, health examinations, and the provision of medication, the medical team sought to ensure that the community’s health conditions remained monitored during the emergency.
During the medical activities, the ERG team recorded 73 patients receiving health services, ranging from toddlers to the elderly.
“The ERG team, together with medical personnel, is providing health services for people affected by the disaster. This effort is carried out to prevent the spread of diseases and reduce health risks that often increase during emergencies,” said Ali Samsuri, Head of ERG PT Timah Tbk.
In addition to direct examinations, the ERG team also conducted data collection on common illnesses at the Istiqomah Mosque post, mapped the needs for medicine and health logistics, and promoted health education so that evacuees understand how to maintain their well-being while in shelters.
Beyond medical services, the ERG PT Timah Tbk team also carried out a series of activities to support the recovery of affected residents, including cleaning evacuation posts, removing trash, organizing the post environment, and managing temporary waste to prevent disease outbreaks and help create a safe and comfortable evacuation environment.
To support the food needs of flood-affected residents, the ERG team also distributed logistical aid to Dusun Cempaka, Teluk Bakung Village, and Dusun Alur Kapal, Pematang Cengal Subdistrict.
“We also distributed food items such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, tea, baby formula, children’s snacks, and baby diapers,” Ali added.
The ERG team also assisted in repairing culvert drainage together with the local fire department to ensure proper water flow, preventing floodwaters from re-entering residential areas.
The presence of PT Timah Tbk’s ERG team among the people of Langkat reflects the company’s concern for communities within and beyond its operational areas. Through swift, targeted, and needs-based actions, PT Timah Tbk hopes its efforts can help ease the burden of flood-affected residents.
Earlier, on Wednesday (December 3, 2025), PT Timah Tbk deployed 20 ERG personnel to assist in disaster response efforts in Sumatra. (*)
