JAKARTA — PT TIMAH Tbk has been awarded the 2024 Mineral and Coal Community Development and Empowerment Performance Award (Tamasya Award) in the Real Income or Employment Implementation category by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The award was received by PT TIMAH Tbk’s Division Head of CSR, Rahmat Taufik, during an event at Kartika Expo Center, Balai Kartini, Jakarta (November 26, 2024).
The Tamasya Award is an initiative by the ESDM Ministry through the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (Ditjen Minerba) to honor mining companies that have optimally implemented Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programs. These programs cover various aspects, including education, social, cultural, environmental, and economic sectors.
As a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, PT TIMAH Tbk remains committed to improving the welfare of communities around its mining operations through various PPM initiatives in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, the Riau Islands Province, and Riau Province.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot praised companies that have shown great dedication to the development of communities surrounding mining areas.
“This award reflects the contribution and spirit of enterprises in delivering tangible benefits for national development. We hope this recognition inspires all stakeholders to continue working hard to maximize the benefits of the energy and mineral sectors for the broader community,” said Yuliot.
Yuliot highlighted that the mining sector significantly contributes to the national economy, supporting economic equity beyond Java.
“The mining sector contributed about 12% to GDP in 2024 and positively impacted regional economic equity, especially outside Java. It also reduced the Gini ratio disparity, which was recorded at 0.379 in March 2024, compared to 0.388 in March 2023,” he added.
Director General of Mineral and Coal, Tri Winarno, also commended all parties implementing PPM programs. He emphasized the importance of synergy between the government, businesses, and communities to ensure sustainability in the energy and mineral sectors, aligning with the roadmap toward Net Zero Emissions.
“Through the Tamasya Award, we hope that mining companies’ commitment to implementing PPM programs strengthens, providing not only economic benefits but also social and environmental welfare for surrounding communities,” said Tri.
Department Head of Corporate Communication PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Budiman Siahaan, stated that the award underscores the company’s commitment to consistently and sustainably executing PPM programs.

The Tamasya Award 2024 recognized excellence in the mineral and coal sub-sector based on aspects of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, with assessments conducted by an independent expert team. This year, PT TIMAH Tbk stood out for its superior PPM program implementation, reflecting the company’s dedication to harmonizing mining operations with community empowerment efforts. (*)
