JAKARTA – PT Timah Tbk has once again secured the prestigious Gold Rank award at the Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) 2024, organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR). The award ceremony took place at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta on Thursday, November 6, 2024.
ASRRAT honors companies that effectively communicate their sustainability performance through well-prepared sustainability reports to stakeholders.
This recognition underscores PT Timah’s commitment to reporting on sustainability. This year, ASRRAT adopted the theme "Enhanced Transparency and Accountability for Sustainable Business," emphasizing the importance of greater transparency and accountability in supporting sustainability.
ASRRAT evaluates the quality of sustainability reports based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. The assessment is conducted by competent, certified Sustainability Reporting (SR) specialists.
In his remarks, NCSR Chairman Dr. Ali Darwin highlighted the significant transformation in sustainability reporting practices, which have evolved from being adopted by only a few companies to becoming a common practice in the business world.
“The trend of sustainability reporting is gaining momentum. Data from KPMG indicates that 75% of large companies globally now engage in this practice. In Indonesia, mandatory sustainability reporting requirements are driving companies to be more transparent and accountable regarding social and environmental impacts. The emergence of global standards like the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) further reinforces this trend, paving the way for a sustainable corporate future,” said Dr. Ali.
Echoing Dr. Ali’s statements, ASRRAT 2024 Chief Judge Dr. V. Saptarini revealed that 70 organizations participated in this year’s event, including private and public sector companies as well as higher education institutions. Among them, 11 were new participants, demonstrating growing awareness and commitment to sustainability.
Dr. Saptarini explained that independent evaluations ensure the submitted sustainability reports comply with GRI international standards and Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulations. This approach maintains report quality and credibility while encouraging companies to align their reports with these standards.
Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, expressed pride in receiving the award, emphasizing the company’s dedication to sustainable business practices.
“In conducting its business processes, PT Timah Tbk implements sustainability measures from natural resource exploration to downstream initiatives. Along the way, we continue to increase community participation as part of our community empowerment efforts,” she said. (*)
