KARIMUN -- PT Timah Tbk in 2023 plans to plant 7,500 mangrove stems in the Riau Archipelago Province. Planting mangroves is an effort to prevent abrasion and mitigate environmental impacts due to climate change.
The mangrove planting carried out by PT Timah Tbk will be carried out in Gemuruh Village, Kundur Barat District, and Pongkar Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency.
PT Timah Tbk has consistently planted mangroves with the community and carried out mangrove replanting. This is a form of commitment to environmental preservation by PT Timah Tbk.
In addition, planting mangroves also to reduce the impact of abrasion due to sea tides. This is because, in Karimun Regency, waves can occur twice daily.

Planting mangroves is also an effort to improve the ecosystem of coastal areas because mangroves are places where small fish and other things develop.
Apart from Karimun, PT Timah Tbk also planted mangroves in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. PT Timah Tbk and the Ikebana Foundation have planted mangroves since 2010. Tens of thousands of mangroves have been planted in the coastal area of ??Rebo Beach, Bangka Regency.
