WEST BANGKA - To prevent flooding in the West Bangka region, PT Timah Tbk, together with Kodim 0431/West Bangka, planted hundreds of mangrove and red shoot trees along the coast of Pasar Teluk Rubiah on Friday (December 8, 2023).
Employees of PT Timah Tbk, along with personnel from Kodim 0431/West Bangka, NGOs, fishermen's groups, and the community, worked together to plant trees in this area.
The tree planting is also part of the activities for the 78th anniversary of KODAM and aims to prevent early disasters such as floods and disease outbreaks in 2023.
Commander of Kodim 0431 West Bangka, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Kemas Muhamad Nauval, stated that the TNI AD Community Service activities were carried out for three days on the coastal and market areas of Teluk in conjunction with the 78th anniversary of KODAM.
"The TNI Community Service activities in conjunction with the 78th anniversary of KODAM also comply with the orders of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, conducting market cleaning, greening with the planting of mangroves, ketapang, and red shoot trees, followed by river channel cleaning," he said.
The District Military Commander conveyed that PT Timah Tbk collaborated to help make the TNI AD Community Service activities successful.
"PT Timah is very cooperative in assisting with the TNI Community Service activities, providing 500 mangrove seedlings and red shoot tree seedlings. Our hope is that in the future, PT Timah Tbk will increasingly collaborate with TNI AD to build West Bangka and preserve the environment," he explained.
The Chairman of Tanjung Jaya Farmer Group, Hendrik, stated that PT Timah Tbk often engages in greening initiatives and supports the community in environmental preservation activities.
"In addition to TNI Community Service activities, PT Timah also conducts independent greening initiatives. PT Timah also often supports the Tanjung Jaya Farmer Group in environmental preservation activities," he said.
Similar sentiments were expressed by the Chairman of the AmPeGe organization, Bahara, who appreciated PT Timah Tbk's consistent efforts in environmental management.
