PT Timah Tbk Together with BUMN Volunteers Provide Additional Food and Education about Stunting in East Belitung

EAST BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk together with Volunteers Bakti BUMN East Belitung Regency provided education and additional food for stunted children in Baru Village, Manggar District, East Belitung, Thursday (9/3/2023).

Dozens of children in the village were given additional nutrition in the form of food while their parents were given education about stunting prevention in the Batch III 2023 BUMN Bakti Volunteers agenda.

SOE Volunteer Volunteer participant, Nurul Asri Ramadhani, said that with education and providing additional nutrition to stunted children, they are closer to the residents, so they know more details about the family's condition.

"Earlier there was a child who was stunted aged 2 years, and not yet 2 years old, and it looked that his condition was thin and indeed malnourished, and some were also fat but not as normal as their age," she said.

She hopes that the children who are detected as stunting will always pay attention to their progress through the posyandu and puskesmas, so that they can continue to monitor their progress.

"When there is a development, thank God, it is not included in the stunting category, but those who have not developed it must be monitored by the Posyandu," he explained.

One of the parents receiving stunting education and assistance, Khusnia hopes that BUMN, especially PT Timah Tbk, will continue to help them monitor their children.

"Thank you for providing education and additional nutritional assistance," she said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the East Belitung Health Service, Muhammad Yulhaidir appreciated the stunting-related activities in Desa Baru by BUMN volunteers together with PT Timah Tbk.

According to him, they are still following up with monitoring, so that over the next 2 months the child's weight can increase and accelerate the reduction in stunting rates.

"Baru Village is one of the monitoring locations, we will continue to work to reduce the stunting rate in Beltim and Baru Village," he stated.

In addition to providing education and providing nutritional supplementary food for stunted children, the BUMN volunteers also provided education to schools on environmental issues, namely SMPN 5 Desa Baru, Manggar. (*)
