PT Timah Tbk Together with Alobi and South Sumatra BKSDA Free Animals on Independence Day

BANGKA – Moment of Independence of the Republic to Indonesia for the 76th year PT Timah Tbk together with the Alobi Foundation, the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of South Sumatra released three wild animals in the Bangka Island Outdoor Protection Forest (BIO), Sungailiat, Bangka, Tuesday (17/8/2021).

The three animals that will be released are two Bido Eagles (Spilomis Cheela) and one Brontok Eagle (Spizateus Cirrhatus). The released animals are translocated animals from the Tegal Alur Animal Rescue Center (PPS) which have been rehabilitated at PPS Alobi Kampoeng for the Anchoring Water Reclamation since a week ago. These three types of animals are declared to be released into the wild because they still have wild instincts and have also gone through the examination process from a veterinarian.

PPS Alobi Foundation Manager, Endy Yusuf said, the release of these three animals coincided with the momentum of the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The reason is, wild animals must also be free by being released in the wild.

“The Alobi Foundation together with the South Sumatra BKSDA and PT Timah Tbk released three wild animals on the momentum of today's Independence Day. We liberate wildlife on independence day. Freedom is not only for humans. But wild animals that are ready to be released must also be free by releasing them into their natural habitats,” said Endy.

In that momentum, he invited the community to jointly preserve the wildlife by not hunting, catching and killing wild animals.

“Let us together protect wildlife by not hunting, catching or killing. We must protect these wild animals, because their best habitat is nature. They are protected, let's take care of them together," he said.

Director of Commerce of PT Timah Tbk, Purwoko said the release of this animal is a form of PT Timah Tbk's commitment to support wildlife conservation. This is in line with the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 1827 K/30/MEM/2018 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Good Mining Engineering Rules.

"PT Timah Tbk is committed to sustainability, sustainability and biological conservation as part of the Company's culture at work," said Purwoko in his remarks at the animal release activity in the Bio Protected Forest Area, Sungailiat, Tuesday (17/8/2021).

PT Timah Tbk since 2018 through PPS Alobi in Kampoeng Reclamation of Air Jangkang has rehabilitated protected animals, then released them if they were declared ready to be returned to their habitat.

In order for the improvement and preservation of the environment to continue, PT Timah Tbk has established partnerships and synergies with a number of organizations and communities that care about the environment, one of which is the ALOBI Foundation.

“Animals have an important role in maintaining the sustainability of ecosystems, for that we must protect and preserve wild animals by releasing them into nature as their natural habitat. Let's take care of wildlife in Indonesia together for the sake of creating balance and harmony in nature itself," he concluded.
