PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk handed over 14 units of wheelchairs to the people on Bangka Island, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. This wheelchair assistance was handed over in mid-May-June 2023.
This MIND ID mining industry holding member handed over wheelchairs to persons with disabilities, both children and the elderly, as PT Timah Tbk's commitment to helping vulnerable groups.
PT Timah Tbk is also collaborating with the Social Service and Village Community Empowerment of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province to map wheelchair recipients so that this assistance is right on target.
The wheelchair assistance recipients felt very happy and did not expect to get a wheelchair to help them with their daily activities.
Maya (50), a wheelchair recipient, was unable to hold back her tears when she received wheelchair assistance from PT Timah Tbk at her residence in Sekar Biru Village, Parittiga sub-district, West Bangka Regency.
She has had a stroke in the last four years. So she could only walk with the aid of a cane.
"Thanks for the wheelchair assistance for me," Maya said haltingly.
Likewise, Yulianti Ningsih, a wheelchair recipient, Nayra Amanda (5), said she did not expect her child to receive a wheelchair from PT Timah Tbk.
"To be honest, I did not know that this assistance was from PT Timah, and I also did not expect that PT Timah would assist me. Because it's not just this one or two times that our family has been surveyed to get a wheelchair, but there hasn't been one. But today PT Timah has really helped my baby, thank you PT Timah," said Yulianti.
"Alhamdulillah, I'm happy to be able to get a wheelchair, I'm very happy. Before this wheelchair, Nayra was always carried everywhere. So having a wheelchair is very helpful for us," she said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Social Service and Village Community Empowerment for the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Budi Utama appreciated the commitment of MIND ID Mining Industry holding members who consistently help the community.
"Of course, PT Timah has never been absent in providing its CSR assistance to the people of Bangka Belitung," he said.
Budi hopes that the synergy with PT Timah Tbk to help the community can continue so that more and more people can be helped.
