KARIMUN -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the social and cultural aspects of the community. One of these efforts is carried out through the improvement of public facilities and infrastructure in the company’s operational areas.
One form of this support is realized through assistance for the construction of a fence at the Tembesu Public Cemetery (TPU) in Gemuruh Village, Kundur Barat District, Karimun Regency.
This assistance was provided as a result of communication and synergy between the company and the local community through the Gemuruh Village Community Communication Forum.
The construction of the cemetery fence is considered important to provide a clear boundary between the burial area and residents’ plantations, while also improving comfort and environmental safety.
Chairman of the Gemuruh Village Community Communication Forum, Azman, stated that the support from PT TIMAH Tbk has greatly helped the community in realizing the construction of the cemetery fence, which has long been needed by residents.
“Alhamdulillah, PT TIMAH Tbk has begun to assist with the construction of the Tembesu cemetery fence. The assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk includes the construction of nearly 100 meters of fencing, which is a continuation,” he said.
He explained that the construction of the cemetery fence directly involves the surrounding community. This community participation is expected to foster a sense of ownership while strengthening togetherness within the village.
The presence of the cemetery fence is also considered strategic because of its location near the main road. With the fence in place, the boundary between the burial area and residents’ plantations becomes clearer and more orderly.
“This fence is very important because the cemetery is located near the main road and serves as a clear marker between residents’ plantations and the burial area,” he added.
The people of Gemuruh Village hope that the construction of the Tembesu cemetery fence can be completed as planned, and that collaboration and synergy between PT TIMAH Tbk and the community will continue in supporting village development.
“There are still sections where the fence has not been installed. Hopefully, in the future PT TIMAH Tbk can provide further assistance, not only for the fence but also for other social support,” he said.
