BANGKA SELATAN – PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to education, one of which is through the Timah Mengajar program. Under the theme Improving Teacher Competency Through Training on Popular Scientific Writing as a Professional Development Effort in 2024, the event was held at the Bangka Selatan Education Office on Thursday (12/12/2024).
This program, which focuses on enhancing the capacity of teachers in PT Timah Tbk's operational areas, was attended by the Division Head of CSR PT Timah Tbk, Rahmat Taufik, the Assistant for People’s Welfare of Bangka Selatan Regency, Haris Setiawan, and the participants.
A total of 30 teachers from elementary, middle, and vocational schools in Bangka Selatan participated in this program. The Timah Mengajar program is one of PT Timah’s tangible efforts to support human resource development, particularly in education.
In addition to providing training, this program also educates teachers on scientific writing, which is a key way to enhance professionalism and teaching quality.
In his speech, Haris Setiawan, the Assistant for People’s Welfare of Bangka Selatan, emphasized the importance of this opportunity for teachers.
"Out of more than 500 teachers in Bangka Selatan, only 30 have the chance to join this program. Make the most of this opportunity, as scientific writing is not just for administrative purposes, but also trains our analytical, logical, and objective thinking about knowledge and the needs of society," said Haris.
He hopes this program will help teachers improve their competencies. "This program is expected to assist teachers in improving their competencies, particularly in performance management and scientific writing," he added.
Meanwhile, Anggi Budiman Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah Tbk, mentioned that this program is part of the company’s real contribution to supporting the improvement of educational quality.
"Through the Timah Mengajar program, we aim to mentor teachers so that they can produce quality scientific papers, which will not only benefit them personally but also contribute to the broader education sector," he said.
Scientific writing is considered crucial in supporting the development of teacher professionalism. Through scientific papers, teachers can broaden their horizons, advance education, and provide a lasting positive impact.
This program is a collaboration between PT Timah Tbk and the Bangka Selatan Education Office. With the guidance provided, it is hoped that the teachers will be able to make a larger contribution to advancing sustainable education in the region.
