PT TIMAH Tbk Supports PM Swimming Competition 2025, Fostering the Next Generation of Bangka Belitung Swimmers

BANGKA -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the development of sports, particularly the nurturing of young athletes. One tangible form of this commitment is its support for the PM Swimming Competition 2025.

The PM Swimming Competition 2025, organized by PM Swimming Academy, was attended by 485 participants and took place on December 20–21, 2025, at the Tirta Loka Swimming Pool in Sungailiat.

Bangka Regent Fery Insani expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk’s support in advancing sports activities in Bangka Regency, including through the PM Swimming Competition 2025.

“The participants of the PM Swimming Competition 2025 nearly reached 500 people, and it turns out this event is also supported by PT TIMAH Tbk. We are grateful to PT TIMAH Tbk for supporting sports activities like this. Hopefully, there will be even more sporting events in Bangka Regency in the future,” said Fery.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the PM Swimming Competition 2025, Pema Kurniawan, stated that the competition featured various categories, including 50-meter and 100 meter races as well as relay events.

“The total number of participants reached nearly 485 athletes from all regencies and cities across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, representing various swimming clubs,” said Pema.

He explained that the PM Swimming Competition 2025 marked the second year of the event, once again receiving support from PT TIMAH Tbk. Participant enthusiasm increased significantly compared to the previous year.

“In the first year, there were around 365 athletes, while this year the number rose to nearly 485 participants. This shows that the interest and enthusiasm of young athletes to compete continue to grow,” he said.

PT TIMAH Tbk’s support for the event was provided in the form of medals and prizes for the winners. According to Pema, this support serves as an additional motivation for young athletes to continue striving for excellence.

“PT TIMAH Tbk is an outstanding state-owned enterprise in supporting young athletes. Its commitment is very real and consistent, especially in supporting sports development from an early age. This is also the second year PT TIMAH Tbk has supported this event,” he stated.

He added that the increasing number of sports events in Bangka Belitung will help produce a higher-quality regeneration of athletes. This is also considered strategic in improving regional sports achievements, especially as Bangka Regency is set to host the 2026 Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).

“The more competitions there are, the more competitive experience athletes gain, and their performance will continue to improve. PT TIMAH’s support is very meaningful in creating a healthy and sustainable sports ecosystem,” he added.

Looking ahead, he hopes that the synergy between PT TIMAH Tbk and the sports community, particularly swimming clubs, will continue through the organization of similar events in the future.

“We hope PT TIMAH Tbk will continue to progress and keep supporting the community, especially in the field of sports, so that the development of young athletes in Bangka Belitung can be carried out sustainably,” Pema concluded. (*)
