BANGKA -- The commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness and sustainability continues to be strengthened. PT TIMAH Tbk, through its Division of Engineering Operation Excellence, together with the Bangka Regency Environmental Agency (DLH), the Bangka Belitung Naval Base (Lanal Babel), and the community, carried out a community clean-up activity at Taman Sari Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, on Thursday (April 2, 2026).
This clean-up initiative is a routine program conducted by PT TIMAH as part of its efforts to maintain environmental cleanliness, particularly in public spaces and company assets.
The activity is part of the company’s support for the government’s “Indonesia ASRI” (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) program, as well as an effort to ensure public open spaces remain clean, comfortable, and suitable for community use.
The clean-up effort, involving community members, students, and PT TIMAH employees, focused on cleaning the park area, which serves as a central hub for public activities, especially for sports and recreation.

During the activity, participants worked together to collect waste, which was mostly dry leaves. The collected waste was then sorted into organic and inorganic categories as part of the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) program.
Organic waste such as dry leaves will be processed into compost at the TPS 3R Sri Menanti facility in collaboration with the Bangka Regency Environmental Agency.
The Head of Waste Management at the Bangka Regency Environmental Agency, Veggy Vera Lusyanti, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with PT TIMAH in maintaining environmental cleanliness, particularly in the Taman Sari area.
“We are grateful for the synergy with PT TIMAH. Taman Sari is one of the main activity centers for the community, so its cleanliness must be maintained together as part of our commitment to the environment,” she said.
She also noted that PT TIMAH’s environmental programs have provided tangible benefits to the community and are expected to continue, with greater focus on strategic areas such as the Sungailiat city center.
Meanwhile, a Physical Education teacher from Setia Budi School, Irawan, stated that the activity not only improved environmental cleanliness but also provided educational value for students.
“This activity is very positive because it fosters social values among students, especially the spirit of cooperation that we also teach in school. In addition, the park, which was previously less maintained, is now in much better condition,” he said.

He added that Taman Sari has long been a favorite location for student sports activities, not only for his school but also for other schools in Sungailiat. The area is even frequently used as a venue for sports selection events.
According to him, collaboration with PT TIMAH supports sports activities for both students and the community. He hopes that all stakeholders and community members will continue to maintain the facility, as it is a shared asset.
“Taman Sari is not only for sports but also a recreational space for the community. We hope everyone can help maintain the cleanliness and comfort of this area,” he added.
