PT Timah Tbk Reveals Review of Mining Partnership

PANGKALPINANG – PT Timah Tbk will conduct a review of the mining partnership model that the company has been running so far. This step is a follow-up effort to improve corporate governance.

In addition, this step is a follow-up to the results of discussions with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) during the visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in early October.

This was conveyed by the Business Development Director of PT TIMAH Tbk, Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara, during a meeting with land mining business partners and Production Suction Pontoon (PIP) that was held last week in the Main Meeting Room of PT Timah Tbk.

“Based on the discussions with the Ministry of ESDM, it is recommended that PT Timah conduct an evaluation of the partnership system that has been running so far. Whether it is already in accordance with the company’s regulations and expectations or needs improvement,” Suhendra explained.

Following this directive, Suhendra said PT Timah Tbk will evaluate the existing partnership model as well as the possibility of implementing a new model that is more in line with government policies and current conditions on the ground.

“We want all parties to understand that this process is carried out openly and transparently. There are schemes discussed and options provided. We first study the options, and these options concern whether PT Timah still needs partnerships, does not need partnerships, or develops a new and more ideal partnership model,” said Suhendra.

On this occasion, Suhendra invited PT Timah’s business partners to work together to do their best. According to him, this evaluation aims not only to assess whether the company will continue using the existing partnership model or make adjustments but also to ensure that all mining activities comply with applicable regulations and national policies.

“From all the options, of course, the best option will be chosen. Whether to continue using the existing partnership model, not use partnerships, or adjust the cooperation model and reorganize the mechanism. Everything will be done based on the results of the review, which will also be communicated to stakeholders,” he explained. (*)
