PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of education, particularly in the company’s operational areas, through various training programs for educators. This effort is part of the company’s contribution to developing highly capable and competitive human resources.
One of the flagship programs implemented by PT TIMAH Tbk is the Timah Mengajar Program, which focuses on enhancing teachers’ capacity through literacy and numeracy training.
In 2025, a total of 169 teachers in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Riau Islands Province benefited from the Timah Mengajar and Gernas Tastaka training programs organized by PT TIMAH Tbk.
In collaboration with the Sekawan Literacy Community and the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Education Office, PT TIMAH Tbk held a Scientific Writing Training (KTI) program in West Bangka Regency.
Through this training, participants were equipped with the skills to prepare scientific papers as part of their professional development, while also fostering a culture of writing and critical thinking within schools.
Not only focusing on literacy, PT TIMAH Tbk also initiated the Gerakan Cermat Program to Improve Numeracy for Elementary School Teachers through the Gernas Tastaka Program, which was conducted in East Belitung Regency.
This program was attended by 80 elementary school teachers and aimed to enhance their numeracy skills so they can be effectively applied in classroom learning.
One of the teachers who previously participated in PT TIMAH Tbk’s Literacy Program, Marini, a teacher at SDN 4 Kelapa Kampit in East Belitung, said that the Timah Mengajar program was very enjoyable and beneficial in improving teachers’ potential in writing.
“The benefit I felt was an improvement in my competence, especially in literacy. We also gained new colleagues, allowing us to collaborate in promoting literacy,” she said.
Going forward, she plans to create a literacy program at her school in collaboration with fellow teachers and the principal.
Meanwhile, the Department Head of Corporate Communication of PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that through the Timah Mengajar and Gernas Tastaka programs, the company aims to strengthen the capacity of educators, particularly in literacy and numeracy, so they can deliver higher-quality and more relevant learning processes for students.
